Haha yea, mainly to make sure my door is shut but yea I always have to look back at it! Really like this car, its fun to drive and funny when people try to pass me. The week or so I drove babyspire I had someone pass me almost daily and there's nothing you can do. This car you just downshift, hit the gas and jump to 70/80 right now. It's funny cause I wait for them to get up beside my rear bumper before I do it and they're already doing 65/70 lol...I'm sure they get mad but I drive the speed limit and a couple over and they're breaking the law being in a hurry so screw em!2008 Kia Rio- new beater

Some progress was made!! Got the roof rack fab'd up and fit to a festy! It's ready to be bolted down! Unfortunately it has been raining and I don't want to use silicone on wet metal so it will have to wait...pics!!2008 Kia Rio- new beater

More pics!!
The cross pieces slide forward and backward on the rail, they're fully extended right now but I like the way it looks with the front one slid back about a foot.. these are just for reference!
Now that I think about it I might try to sell this and make myself another one, could use the cash right about now lol..2008 Kia Rio- new beater

Pics of the sliders... there's some wear on the bumper strip on top, it's replaceable but it's not bad, barely noticable so I don't really care, you have to look close to see it when your next to the car.
The way it's positioned on the roof right now if you put two bolts in each of the front caps it will be straddling the interior roof support bracket that stretches side to side. The rear cap piece is sitting far enough back that it's on top of the reinforcement for the hatch area but the bolt/s holes will be drilled in front of all that, it really looks like it will work out well! just need to drill a couple holes on each corner and silicone some 8mm bolts in place!
Last pic is with the front slider piece slid back a little..kinda looks more sporty, if that's even possible for my little beast?!Last edited by zoom zoom; 07-10-2013, 07:11 PM.2008 Kia Rio- new beater

Thanks rafe! It's a work in progress, I really hope that I get everything back together by the end of the month, I would like to move on to other projects inside the house lol... this rain is forcing me to stay inside for the most part but I don't want to get too involved with too much torn up and needing fixed.
Got some pics of the Mitsubishi spyder seats, the driver side is the only one in right now and only by two bolts, but I'll get to the other side on a day when I can be outside for more than an hour without rain -.- I love the seats, LUMBAR SUPPORT+ADJUSTABLE HEAD RESTS!!! The little twisty thing on the side adjusts the bottom up and down to accommadate short/tall people and they grab ahold of you with those sides that stick out so no more sliding around in the seat during hard cornering!!! The seat cushion also makes a really good place to put your hand between shifts, almost as good as arm rests! all I did was ream out the holes and bend the front tab down, it was sticking straight out.Last edited by zoom zoom; 07-10-2013, 07:27 PM.2008 Kia Rio- new beater

The carpet has a date with a car wash and some degreaser friday, and I snagged some rear interior panels from an 89. They're in much better shape than the stock ones, seem to be made of a different type of plastic?! The inertia switch will need moved but there's plenty of wire so I don't see any problems there. I'll stick it inside the access hole somewhere.
You can kinda see what I mean by the front bolts will be stradling that roof support, and the rear support for the hatch is under the rear mount. I think the roof rack will be functional and capable of hauling about anything any other roof rack will be, as much as you would trust the support to hold haha..Last edited by zoom zoom; 07-10-2013, 07:38 PM.2008 Kia Rio- new beater

Well its official, I've put over 1,000 trouble free miles on the b6!!!!!!! WOOT WOOT!! So proud of this little car, the power is great and its a really fun ride, just gotta get the interior back together now!
I stopped and got the fuel level sending unit from the junk yard today, it works so far. The JY owner gave me the whole fuel pump housing and all, didn't charge me a dime Haha.. he scraps stuff mostly, not the cars, he keeps those until they're picked to death and then some, but I've been taking in all my scrap crap that wouldn't really amount to anything so he's been super nice to me hooking me up with stuff for dirt cheap since I'm a preferred customer these days lol..
I will eventually be replacing the front main and valve stem seals but the leaks are very minor. Haven't added any oil since Karl dropped in 3.5qts after installing the engine, and the smoke on startup doesn't ever last more than a minute tops. Also have a spare Festy thermostat housing, and lower bypass tube housing ill be putting on before madness to ensure I don't blow that radiator hose out on the way.

That's about what Bryant said, he kept the inertia switch in the same place. I figure I'll do whatever looks best as long as its asthetically pleasing. Doesn't have to be pretty just better than it was.2008 Kia Rio- new beater
