It finally happened...

I'm sure the speedo gear and slightly load dependent on accelerating that might make it sound funny. also when you're coasting everything gets quieter the engine vibration noise from air, rolling in general etc. not unlike a wheel bearing out of spec but not dead yet

Did a couple things today, compression check, timing check, idle set, and swapped a couple dead lifters lol.. #2 intake and #1 exhaust were flattened.

#2 is better but the rest remain the same. I haven't driven it enough to tell if the lifter noise is gona completely yet or not, but the load dependant tick tick tick is still there. You can rev 6k in neutral and it doesn't tick, but it will tick in first second third when accelerating. I'm thinking I probably got a broken ring?! Other options....??? Anything but a ring lol...????? I don't like bottom end work.


And I'm still getting crappy (28) mpgz...I'm gonna be driving 140 miles today so I'll try to get a distance mpg figure in.

the load dependant tick is an exhaust leak at the manifold, OR it can be spark leak. i'm assuming that you know the differance between spark knock and spark leak and how each sound is different.

My festiva's KL sees 7500 all the time haha

Lol mine just feels like there's no power up there!
This motor just has to last to the summer so Im not too worried about kicking its butt lol

I get a decent pull from around 2700-5500. somewhere around 3300 the motor starts to get a different sound, but it's not pulling any harder...by pull I mean when the car wants to put you back into the seat. Sure it's just a b6 but it feels so good in a Festiva, can't wait to see what a Bp is like.

Also I don't like to do wide open throttle with my foot to the floor. It seems like it has more power if I go 1/2 pedal and press down easy.... Probably doesn't but it does pull longer.

I always dump and hold wot. I see a hill, leave it in od and mash the carpet.

Efi, so it always sparks without a hiccup. Been Driving it inappropriately for 6 years like that.


Sorry without looking, carbed? Plugged secondaries? Plate hanging open? Booger in jet? Intake not getting hot and icing?

Efi... If I hold wot the thing doesn't pull as hard. Doesn't matter it runs great you probably wouldn't even notice it and keep it floored.

Poor fuel, not enough fuel, or poor ignition from extra fuel squirted . Or not getting enough air for tps call for more fuel?

Started mocking it up today, I want to tie it into the Brush gaurd for a little extra support.

Nothing is bolted solid just yet, trying to work up the gumption to drill the holes with my crappy drill bits.

Basically should just be waiting on the new welder by the end of tomorrow to finish it all and get it painted.
