Could be what you were saying about the blocks that the pp sit on.
I also haven't had the best luck with spec clutches. I now run an ACT.

i looked up the clutch, it is rated for 309 ft*lbs in the escort gt
here is a picture of the flywheel. it does look like they machined the blocks now that i look at it. hopefully they were to the right tolerances.
i wonder if the clutch fork isnt fully returning to its original position because of the bolt binding or somethign like that.
or maybe there is grease on the clutch? i cleaned it with brake parts cleaner but who knows. how long would this take to burn off?

i think im gonna drive with it for a little while and baby the clutch, see if a little break in period wont burn off any oil or help it stick better.
can anyone reccommend a tranny fluid that will help get rid of grinds? like the pennzoil synchromesh or the gm synchromesh?

Mercon atf is what it calls for. Most 323 guys run gl4 spec 75w90 though.

I tried 75/90 in mine and it seemed like it took a little more shift effort. I have been running walmart brand supertech (lol) dexIII. Much smoother. You def need to give your clutch time to break in/heat cycle so it will last a wile.

Yes big upgrade from dex /merc. I used the Pennzoil from advance. Its supposed to be the same as the GM flavor.

anyone care to diagnose my tranny leak? it appears to be coming from the very endcap of the transmission... but why would that leak?
from underneath
from the front
completely dry up top and on the back side.

It's just a few bolts to take that cover off. It probably just needs to be resealed. I've seen one leak from being dropped on the ground.
