However a 'massaged' 5 speed 3 banger Suzuki transplant driven with a soft foot ought to provide all the fuel economy and aggravation anybody could wish for, along with taller thinner tires, and removing the roof and all of the upper glass.

remember it is thrown away two dollars per tank full to run high octane verses 87 octane. take my word for it you will be running premium fuel if you're going for high mileage with advance timing high mileage with increase compression hugh mileage with air intake modification or a combination of all of those. I did lots of modifications to my aspire to increase mileage but it only affected the highway. driving in the city I could not tell because of the variation of every single trip I take. if you plan your routes to never use reverse and hardly use the brakes, run stop signs and check the engine off at signals and trains you can see huge gains but your data still willo be tank to tank or week to weekLast edited by getnpsi; 10-17-2012, 05:04 PM.1993 GL 5 speed

Use a hydrogen injection system, with hydrogen made from water. Turn up the power
a little and you will get steam with it. Truck air brake antifreeze mixed in is the
cheapest alky I find out here..
Hydrogen is worse than alcohol for corroding metals, I use poly carbonate and dairy
rated hose to deliver the goods to the throttle body. All inexpensive and easy to
make parts. Don't believe all the hype if you google this.
The benefit comes by adding
some hydrogen that burns extremely fast compared to diesel or gasoline. Flame fronts
will streak through out the combustion chamber and burn from many points, not just
the spark plug , and promotes burning the fuel molecules that the catalyst normally
burns. The exhaust runs cooler, the cat does not work anymore and the engine sounds
different.
So far I have not heard any engines ping while the system is working, this would be because the flame front progressing across the chamber and compressing
the end gasses has been eliminated. Quench and the fuel trapped there must be burning too, or the catalyst would still be working.

Some have to have the o2 sensor black boxed to add about .2 volts to the signal
going to the computer. The hydrogen is mixed with 2/3 oxygen and this causes
additional fuel to be added on some vehicles.
Another way around that is to put the oxygen in the passenger area and inject only
Hydrogen. Easy to do.Reflex paint by Langeman...Lifted...Tow Rig

since you have an aspire andt have to re harness a lot of the car you might as well get the dual overhead cam 1.5L protege. it is unclear how well you can make a 1.6 engine run with just 1.3 electronics. since most people have festivas on it festy messe board it is a no issue1993 GL 5 speed

Get an early b6 and put all your stuff on it. Megasquirt, and a wideband o2 would be great tuning tools for you. I just did a B6 SOHC, rear turbo for a member here(Kumalaba) and he's getting 38 mpg, while making well over 120hp, which is double stock, plus some.
TominMO's car was the same setup, and he recorded 50+ with his, @55mph. Still b6 turbo.
Both cars have an FMU, so when not in boost, they are the same as stock.-Greg

I averaged 36 MPG when my festy was b6t, had a lot of 40 MPG fills and a best of 47 MPG. Not bad considering the liberal (safe) fuelling of stock electronics.91GL BP/F3A with boost
