This... Is simplicity. Y'all need these. That's all there is to it.

This is the entire Kia harness. How it lays out puts the PCM on the passenger side. We will correct this.

I labeled each connector with orange Duct tape, then wrote on the tape with marker, that we are going to re-use. The stock Festiva starting and ingnition wiring will remain (Key to fuse box) so that is not marked for reminders. Stay tuned.

What scares me more than anything else about engine swaps is the prospect of tangling with wiring harnesses. Getting an engine to fit in place and mate with driveaxles and trannys is a visual, mechanical and engineering undertaking but then having to tangle with electronics (especially with my old brain) just blows mental fuses and is highly likely to leave me outright frustrated. So yeah, I'd love to see simple and step by step instructions on wiring.
Maybe then I'd suddenly become a little more confident about seeking out a BP engine too.

^^wiring has become the least of my worries when doing an engine swap

              1988 323 Station Wagon - KLG4 swapped
              1988 323 GT - B6T Powered
2008 Ford Escape - Rollover Survivor

1990 Festiva - First Ever Completed KLZE swap (SOLD)

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

What are the appropriate donors for the wiring harness?

I love watching stuff like this! Reading Maps & Schematics are one of my favorite past times (wierd I know). So I'm assuming you are gonna ditch ABS,Air Bags,AC wiring. What else does that leave you with to delete Power windows/locks? I like the idea of moving the PCM over to the drivers side. I did a full "Gut" to my first fox chassis mustang, when in college at Waco. Didnt even have a heater. Car weighed a whopping 2400 lbs with a full tank of gas 5.0 & C4 ATX. Passed safety inspection with a sheet metal dash. The guy freaked out so bad when he went to inspect it. :highly_amused:
Ps Jus wondering does the KIA MAF have a seperate IAT sensor in the inlet box? Or is it incorporated into the MAF itself? (I'm ass-uming your running a KIA MAF)

In this case, any BP Kia Sephia, 1995-1997 suffices.

Both come from connector C254 (MAF and IAT), so I'll have to lay hands on it to see if the wiring to the sensor is continuous (IAT integrated into MAF)

                        No worries.

I have complete wiring for both vehicles, so this is going to be as complicated or simple as need be

I started drafting some of the preliminary wiring based on our whiteboard scribblings with some of the downtime I had yesterday. It is far from finished (there are routing errors), but Don asked me to post what is done so far and hopefully it gives an idea of where we are headed with this.

The original idea on the diagram was to make sure our connections don't get mixed up when we start cutting wires. We might as well diagram the entire installation. In addition to documenting the harness we are fabricating and instruments being used, I'm going to try to integrate OEM detail in the diagram so it can be cross referenced to OEM diagrams. This way there is a supplemental reference for things that may not be clear in Don's explanations or, perhaps, something to look at while following along with his explanations.

All suggestions are welcome, especially anything that would be helpful to see on our diagrams.

Sadly, AutoCAD 2010, which is a labor of love [read:tedious]. There's a dozen better programs for this, but none on my PC at work.
