Right on. A proper set of maps or algorithms makes multiple modes driving modes pointless, because the engine will be operating correctly under all engine loads/speeds.

Different maps for different types of fuel is a possibility.

    Great work Russian!

Someone has to step forward and start playing with this. If I do not get three installations in 2014 I will probably abandon this, that's an official threat

I have a refund from State Farm coming because of their incompetence. When it's here I will be putting one together.

I can't give you a date because I know how incompetent SF is. But I WILL be joining in. I also know a guy building a twin turbo Impala that's interested, but he's tech ignorant. I think there's interest, but those who would want a DIY ECU don't have the skills to build one, and/or the disposable cash to play along through the dev process. And then I would assume if they were pre-built the cost would start inching toward what's already available?

I'm pulling for ya. Hope it takes off.

It's all open source so you can purchase all the parts and assemble it as the parts costs, right?

I know for a fact that the Chinese would not solder for free

What's the total cost of the parts for the current board? I've never soldered SMCs before. Should be interesting.

Without the connectors I think it's around $60 in parts.

Do you have a current list I can look over?

http://rusefi.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=359 - digikey BOM - you can copy&paste the whole list into digikey. Please note that technically you do not need 12 low side channels and 6 high side channels if you wanna stay cheap... Also CAN is not really needed for Festiva and I am not sure if you need an expensive VR chip or you would be fine using op-amps for trigger input. On my BP dizzi it's Hall sensor, what is it on a stock festiva?

                    • Now you're speaking a language I barely understand.

I think I remember someone saying there were 2 different types of internals that might be in a Festiva dist, but I don't remember the specifics.

OK. Found out some info. EFI Festivas can have an optical dizzy or a hall effect one. This can be figured out by looking at the model number on the body. If it ends in B it's a hall effect. If no B then it's optical. Carb cars I don't know about.

                      From here.

                            • I've been here all along.
I currently don't have the time required to trial this project.

My goal now is to finish my car and have it roadworthy and running. After that I would happily build my own ecu.

I have also committed myself to freeems.org but my order with all the components and PCB with smd bits already soldered in place has yet to arrive. Been waiting over 5 months.
I will give them a shove. If they can't deliver soon, I'll withdraw my offer.
