  • Reliable bp hp turbo build

So I'm currently swapping a bp/g with plans of a turbo after I get all the bugs worked out but being as I just swapped the bp and didn't rebuild it ( auto engine with evidence of mainly very low rpm usage and minimal wear) still had 187k im gonna run low boost like 5psi but my plans of a high hp highway monster doesn't exactly fit my current budget so I got impatient and pulled my worn out but a sweetheart b3 and began swapping now I can buy another bp and start with machining I got quoted $800 for a clean up valve job and balancing now ill probably be add to 1400 for porting and polishing and bigger valves? Maybe I can find a aftermarket high hp head I want to aim for the nastiest bp thatll last 100k I know some will say do a b6t and rpm hp but I also want good torque im think the flying miata 2.1 stroker with the super h beams expensive but hey it takes care of a extremely strong crank and rods with a rev limit of 7k (with very well balancing) I think will be very safe and 600cc injectors also found a high performance rebuild kit weisco pistons mls head gasket also cams? I'm want a lumpy aggressive cam (love the sounds at idle) but at the same time it still needs to be street saw maruha 264's were still alright for street but 44° of overlap it too aggressive and 272s are too aggressive? Don't know alot about cams honestly but happy to learn also turbocharging I love turbos anyway I kinda have my heart set on a compound turbo setup with a t3 and a gt3582r maybe 20 psi I mean itll still be a street car and I'm a pretty calm driver for the most Part but I like having fun too (like feeling the force of a festiva pulling you into the back seat) I'd like in the area of 350 hp with extreme reliability thoughts, comments, advice?

When i build my 2nd festiva i plan to go high hp bp+t. I would like to see what others come up with here. My 2nd build is way off but its fun to think about it.
1990 (LUCIFER 2.0) fully built BP+T with E153, Fueltech FT500, traction control with hopes of 600hp (i drank to much of the KOOL-AID)
1990 OverKILL BP+T, evo ecu system, coilovers, aspire brakes, full advanced suspension, Garrett! The Autocross toy!
    1989 (BRITSTIVA 1.0) B6T and sold
    19?? 150$ burnout car SOLD
    1991 (STRESS RELIEF)SOLD

I would highly recommend not doing sequential turbos, but consider trying super/turbo compounds

Hmm like a rotex and a gt3582r? Have the super do bottom end with the turbo to enter at the top? Or the t3 to do bottom end with a larger sc to handle top end I mean I'd love the have the massive gt3582r sitting over the trans open the hood and just see this monster turbo ready to inhale small children

Yes, literally as small of a supercharger power band as possible, with its only goal of providing extra exhaust gas to spool the turbo with. So efficiency not even a worry. I'm thinking an Eaton charger. Rough estimate for you - 15psi from a supercharger at 1500 rpm should create 3x the exhaust gas compared to a no s.c.engine

Huh I didn't even think about how itll multiply the exhaust gasses that's a really good idea another thing to ponder is awd? Maybe instead of gtx drive train do a Quattro setup from a audi TT 1.8t Quattro help send the power to the ground

I think you'd have better luck moving the engine forward more than 2 inches. Awd is just going to weigh you down

The number is 100 pounds of perceived wheel weight per inch forward.

A 200hp festiva with the engine moved 2" forward, combined with a well dialed suspension setup, and the car can out pull almost anything on the road and out corner almost anything on a race track. No need for AWD or twin turbos or sequential chargers. All this is just asking for trouble. Build a simple, but we'll designed car and you'll never regret it.

But according to my physics class, this is no where near linear. The first inch might be 80 pounds, the second inch of adjustment might be another 95lbs, the third inch could be 120 on top of all that.

Wow didn't know it was that drastic I know Charlie said 165s were the optimum width tires but will forward mounting really help them with 300+ lbs of torque
