Its not as easy as just turn it down. Or even swap it out for that matter. I have built my car using the stock crap as well as some ebay junk and a bunch of stuff others have said to be good. Heck my car my be worth less then the bird poop on it now. But im learning just like you will. I have built it with the mindset that i will still replace the turbo later on once i have a custom exhaust manifold built up. So my car is a 2 part build. 1st part is now. 2nd part comes later on once im bored and have cash again. Just know its not easy to just turn it down! It can be done but i would plan to build one way then when you need a change rebuild! Or thats my thinking for now.
Haha I know I meant more build the engine to handle what I want and boost wise can't turn it down? I mean the turbo will have to be swapped and probably swap the sc's pulley to something slower and retune the megasquirt I wouldn't build the engine to anything under 8.5-1 compression Na so it'll be fine without boost and the timing will have to be readjusted I was thinking swap turbo swap sc's pulley and a trip to the dyno for a retune and re adjust and the engine could be calmed down no?

Since Greg is busy, I'll do my best to add this. Rear turbo on a stock (junkyard fresh) BP still holds the record for quickest festiva and the turbo is crazy loud and scares children. Iirc, his record was even set with a stock b3 exhaust (other than the turbo hanging off the back.)

..... and it's got working A/C. Just sayin.
What id is factory exhaust. And would you ever want to go bigger than the turbo inlet cross sectional area. Any guesses?
The factory exhaust is metric tubing. It is around 1.75" iirc. Maybe Greg will chime in about this, he knows a lot more about rear turbo on a Festiva than anyone I can think of. Check out his threads, he has done a great job at documenting several rear turbo builds.

I dono but he has since changed the exhaust to bigger and went to a tube header and the car pulls a lot harder. Butt dyno says it worked.
So now he is even faster than when he made the 11.78 pass
It's already a spin fest when me and him go at it on the street. But that's the fun part when u know your buddy can drive.

There is no doubt in my mind that you guys are talented drivers. I remember 3 wide turbo festiva freeway pulls at Madness 6. Watching Greg brake spool Euro at freeway speeds and then pull like a freight train was awesome.

I'm not sure how that's possible with a G series. The tranny hits the steering rack.

Yeah my g swap is being a little pain between the trans hitting the rack and hitting the fan shroud I'm probably gonna get thinner fans as this one is pretty big oh I'm also mounting the engine higher so the oil pan isn't below the sway bar it's gonna need some hood mod but I won't have to worry with these terrible roads also my new axles allow the engine lift do everything will be ok

Normally we drop the engine 3/8 of an inch. I drive my car off road with lowered suspension and haven't smacked a pan yet.
