        I mentioned earlier in thread, that Mazda Tributes and Ford Escapes may have had an AWD g series box. It looks like they can be sourced from 2001 - 2004 Tribute/Escape 4cyl AWD. Gearbox should be called a G5M-X. Gear ratios 1st- 3.666 2nd- 2.059 3rd- 1.310 4th- 1.030 5th- 0.837

        I used to own an AWD tribute, they are basically a front wheel drive, with an electronic clutch that engaged the rear drive shaft. The 4cyl engines were 2.0 ford zetec, so would assume bellhousing bolt patterns would be different to B series motors.

        LSD conversions for these boxes look to be cheaper than the capri box - does anyone know if they would be compatible?

            The problem is that it's very unlikely that a g series box will hold up to the power he wants. They turn into consumables over 250-300hp.
            Better Than Nothing Racing

            Way too many cars

                  True. The tribute/escape weighs twice as much as a festiva, and the wheels are a lot bigger. I'm thinking they may have strengthened the gearboxes for that purpose. It's hard to find good info on these though. I know the automatic tributes had known transmission problems, but haven't heard/read much in regards to the manual ones.

                    SO if the g series box is not to the task whats another good swap aside from the crv swap that sounds better and better.

                        Install electric wheel hub motors in the rear. Good for about 100hp per wheel*

                        * batteries not included.
