I cleaned out another 15 messages. I will be glad after these Four Green group buys are over. Then I can delete about a hundred messages.
That little microswitch that is included in the Ford cruise kit can be used as either open or closed, since it has three terminals. In this case it is wired as normally open.Last edited by bravekozak; 04-19-2013, 09:55 AM.

Just found out that the BMW E30 cruise control cut off SWITCH is also normally open for anyone else who is Weber and wants cruise.

Yea. I understand what you are asking.
In normal position - no continuity.
When pushed in, circuit is closed and it receives continuity.

the pic of the packing list doesn't load but here is what should've been in one of the parts bags that you say is missing. the #'s on the packing list are probably the manufacturers #'s that was contracted to design these kits for ford but they have corresponding ford part #'s. i think everything except the vac ball and servo/actuator has E8BZ part #'s. the vac ball and servo were used in other DEALER installed CC kits for the tempo, capri, etc. although it would be rare to find these parts on junkyard cars since they were probably ordered with FACTORY cruise. most of the parts are still available but unfortunately the speed sensor/speedo cable adaptor did not have a ford part # and was serviced only as part of the whole kit.

I believe I posted the part number for the speed sensor previously. I do have the number for the one with the double threaded ends. I managed to buy two other cruise kits for different vehicles for cheap. I have both the upper and lower knurled rings. The only thing that I am missing for this install is a shorter speedo cable.
I disassembled a Ford actuator today. They use 3/8" nuts. I will take a picture of how the cable is held in place.Last edited by bravekozak; 04-20-2013, 04:57 PM.

The actuator cable is attached with a clevis pin clip.
It can be lengthed by Green Sky Adventures.
All of the actuator hold down clamps are the same in every kit.
The punch out used to mount the actuator cable bracket is the same.
It is only the shape of the bracket that changes.
Since mine wasn't included. I will get a thin piece of aluminum and bend it until I get the shape I need. Then I will bend a piece of .070" steel to match. I will just weld on the punched piece on the end. It has to go from the stop switch to directly over the ball pull on the throttle cable.Last edited by bravekozak; 04-20-2013, 06:14 PM.

F3, do you know if there is an up orientation on the speed sensor?
The thread is the same on both ends. I don't think it matters, since the pulse occurs when the two magnets pass each other in any direction. Otherwise, I have a 50:50 chance.
I forgot to mention that the Suzuki Samurai clutch switch is the opposite of the Mazda switch and it has the exact same thread. Perfect substitution for carb cruising with no computer. No additional microswitch needed.Last edited by bravekozak; 04-20-2013, 09:31 PM.

Yes, but which way is up? The flat side or the other?
I asked thered about his speedometer cable. It's the correct part number, but it looks too long in relation to the existing cable. There are still a couple of more at a parts warehouse. But, I want to see if it will fit first.Last edited by bravekozak; 04-20-2013, 10:31 PM.

first, yes i was mistaken about the sensor. i looked at the following diagram too fast and mistook the % sign as refering to the sensor and not the speedo cable extension. you are right about the instructions that come with the kit. there is no clear indication on which way the flat side of the sensor faces. i don't think it matters up or down but it might matter if it is installed backward since it will rotate in the opposite direction. maybe not. as you say, its just magnetic pickups inside. but since this parts book drawing shows more clearly that the flat side faces the transaxle, i'd try that way first.

That last 1993 diagram that you posted is interesting. I have that split actuator/motor with the ring end on the actuator cable just like in the picture. and already tried that number 5 adapter which didn't fit. After I'm finished with my carb install (long actuator cable, long hoses, I am going to let someone else try installing everything to match your picture (automatic with short cable). Thanks for posting. Very interesting. I was going to face the flat part of the speed sensor down.Last edited by bravekozak; 04-21-2013, 08:08 PM.

I did not mount the vacuum ball yet. The best place to mount it will be in the prop rod hole. I am looking for some gas struts to hold my hood open. I mounted the actuator on the same holes as the carb windshield washer reservoir. There is plenty of room for power steering, A/C and cruise. There is lots of cable length to pull on the throttle ball. I just have to fab a bracket. I mounted the brake vacuum break switch, but did not take a picture.Last edited by bravekozak; 04-27-2013, 02:08 PM.
