I would have the panel tinted instead of using spray on, and for the grille, I recommend perforated steel.

Holy thread resurrection! I forgot I even posted this.

The spray-on stuff gave it a rough texture very similar to the plastic surrounding it, kind of what I was going for. I'm happy with it other than I put it on one coat too thick and I can't find indicators bright enough to shine through.
I did end up putting the stock grille back in. The bodywork and custom crap, while both fun and important, took a back seat to getting my BP built up, which subsequently has taken a back seat to getting a whole bunch of BS and drama in my life all sorted out.
Plans for the grille/front end right now are a Stylus front bumper and possibly a modded Rodeo grille, maybe something else. I don't really like perforated steel though.

See I would put carbon fiber behind the gauges.

I used the autometer P/N 5291 because I already had it (like I said, these came off my Camaro). I had to cut about 1/4" off the end of the retainer nut because it was bottoming out before the sensor was tight. I cut the drive key off the cable, and used a drill press to get the remnants of the cable out of the hole in the key. Then I trimmed the Autometer key to fit inside the Mazda key to make an adapter and soldered them together as straight as I could.
The Ford sensor (P/N 5292) would have been a lot easier to use, or I could have adapted a stock VSS from another Mazda, but it was one of those 'do what you can with what you have' situations.

I'm one of those people who thinks CF is ugly.
And my goal was to have indicators that shine through the panel itself. without being able to see the lights themselves when off.

It's a little tight. I'm probably going to move them down a bit when I finish the front end.
