Maybe we can get a more complete chart and add it to the sticky. Axle data is easy to acquire, track width is a little harder.

I can get a measurement on the escort gt half shaft as I have one sitting on my bench. My xr2 half shaft is already in the vehicle or I would go measure that.

Yes,anything would be helpful.I just compute charts easier. And PLEASE measure your half shaft. I've asked a couple members to measure theirs.But to no avail- Thanks, Noname

half shaft, i meant intermediate shaft. The standard method used by the industry can prevent problems when adding the 2 together, so I will have to figure a way around that.

I used the autozone charts, they list all the specs except extended length
and that can be computed by checking the type of inner cv.
Compressed length, inner and outer spline counts, nut size and thread
and a lot more info

I used the chart from A1 cardone when I originally pulled the specs on the cv shafts, but it can also be obtained on rockauto.com as it is a industry standard. The problem comes when you put a passenger side axle into an intermediate shaft. If you use the industry standard for measurement, you can't add the 2 lengths together to get a true total axle length, as the number will be longer than the true length.

Updated reference guide

I updated & corrected this guide. The 323 dim are model year specific.Note when comparing Festiva/Aspire abs/non-abs axles.There is no change in Dimension (There has been some confusion on this) I recently purchased a Festy axle from Advance only to have them twice try to give my an Aspire. Whe finally ordered from a different supplier & received the correct length (shorter by .250).

E-series transmission has an 18-tooth input shaft spline count, and accepts 22-tooth splined axles.
F-series transmission has a 20-tooth input shaft spline count, and accepts 24-tooth splined axles.
G-series has a 22-tooth input shaft spline count, and accepts 26 tooth splined axles.

Extra little tidbit of info. Ford Probe/626/mx6 (2.2L) MTX inboard CV joints are a direct replacement for Capri XR2 inboard CV joints, and they are a heck of a lot easier to find at salvage yards.

For anyone interested & for future reference, I took some measurements with my xr2 axel and rio axel, and this is what I came up with.

Measurements were taken from the where the seal on the transmission would be, out to the seal on the hub, with both axels COMPLETELY compressed and straight. For the measurements above to be right, they measured from tip to tip, from the extreme ends of the axels, completely compressed.

They're also the same thickness. The Rio axel looked thicker, but it's not, I think they were 7/8" thick but don't quote me on that. Both are 26 spline inner/24 spline outter

^ no, I haven't, would probably be the same path as the stock axel.

Thanks again, this chart is a good reference! It's saying aspire abs and non abs axels are the same length, I've never seen a abs aspire, but I'm going to get a abs axel for an atx car and see if this chart is right about those lengths. My passenger cv is clicking hard.

@Russian, yes, I have both driver and passenger side Rio axels on kiazord right now, I had to trim a little off the block plate to let the passenger axel be able to rotate, but it works up and down (fully compressed and decompressed struts with no springs) with no binding that I can tell.
