If anyone's interested I know a guy who's got a couple sets of old/used aspire drums that could be cut up for this. Of course, he wouldn't be responsible for what you did with them. Feel free to pm me.

On the one hand, you add a 1/4 inch plate between the beam and the axle stub/spindle. On the other hand, you remove drum disk back plate, which is maybe 1/8 or a bit less around the axle stub.

How much offset would you say that adds?

started a topic my rear disc brakes

    my rear disc brakes

So we take aspire drums and cut the unneeded part of them to turn them into hubs

take a 1/4 inch steel plate and some mazda mx-3 rear brake calipers and rotors
(that probably means a v6 mx-3), bolt the caliper to the plate through some sleeves with some 50mm class 10.9 bolts

    paint calipers yellow

And we are ready to roll!

Escort GT/Protege LX calipers seems to be compatible in terms of how they mount, but use slightly different pads.

I wanted aspire drums for the aspire bolt pattern anyway - but see how close the holes are to the edge of the drum (and the drum side is dictated by the brake rotor diameter) - seems like festiva drums would not work.

No E-Brake in this design - I live in a flat state and my e-brake is broken for a while already anyway

PS: wonder if anyone would be interested to buy a bolt-on kit consisting of these brackets, sleeves and hubs? But that would probably be $199 shipped, and you will still need calipers and rotors.
