        • dude thats awesome i want a diff like that... let me know how that 5th gear swap works out and if its worth it in the end... is it normal for the "g" trans to be hard to get in to 2nd when shifting hard? my 323 gt was like that... i thought my trans was a bit wonky so i sort of shifted a bit easy on it... are dog gears like straight cut ones? im not that smart when it comes to transmissions i know the straight cut ones "whine" and that sounds cool but i wouldnt want that in a DD... maby get 1st to 4th and leave 5th stock so on the freeway its nice and quiet

          • I read somewhere that its a common problem with theses boxes. All 3 of mine have issues with second but I barely notice it when driving normal. Its a pain when trying to shift fast. A dog gear doesn't have syncros just teeth that press against each other instead of meshing. You can get straight cut gears for around 2k but they don't help. Most guys that run them end up with the gear shafts sticking through the bell housing and clutch. There's a b6t laser in Australia that's running 10s on a stock gearset and some mods to the case.

A normal gear on the left dog gear on the right.

                      • Tried to reassemble the trans tonight but the bolts dont fit in the ring gear.

The shoulders on the bolts are too wide to fit in the ring gear. :angryfire:

Also the battery I ordered the begining of december finally showed up.

                        • I was unaware that blind people made batteries. Can't wait to see this thing at delmar this year.

                          • wow i cant believe those bolts dont fit, i know they where tweaked in the final production they grinded the tops down to clear some gears. i have the mfactory in my kia trans Ferdi put it in but had no issues but that ring gear is alot bigger then a G25m-r. maybe try a g5mr ring gear if it will fit in that trans

                            • If things keep going like this I doubt it'll be at delmar this year.

All of the other g series had a different final drive ratio though.
