  • Big_ty2003's 1993 L Festy Build Thread

Here is some pics of my car that Tony had snapped before I bought it. I figured why take my own when I can just steal his, lol.

And here is after what I have done so far.

    Power washed engine bay
    Replaced valve cover gasket
    Painted valve cover
    Replaced fuel filter
    Replaced spark plugs & wires
    Replaced air filter
Installed One rear brake line from master cylinder back
    reconnected other rear brake line
    freed up e-brake
Replaced all drum components (kicking myself in the butt for not doing the aspire swap instead

Detailed Dash ( took about 4 hours, 50 Q-tips, and a lot of Armor All
Removed Jenson marine radio & installed Kenwood
Did the "DJ" swap on some Capri seats I got for $30
Pulled carpet & repaired hole in floorpan
Power washed & painted carpet (duplicolor vinyl & fabric paint)
Painted interior plastic trim parts with rustoleum stainless steel color paint
Tried putting tach cluster in, however the circuit bored was messed up and burnt up my dimmer switch and fried itself as well.
    Ford F-150 Lightning Floor mats
Installed Stainless steel brace in back
Installed rear wiper switch so the wiper in my sweet blue hatch is actually functional

Exterior pics taken before the seat swap

    Painted Bumpers w/black plastic paint
    Painted wheels black
Painted wiper arms w/ rust reformer & black semi-gloss
Used Meguires 3 step process on the paint

Thanks guys! I think After I get a spoiler & a 88-89 style grille and mod it I am going to start on some body work (big job, lots of dents & cancer) and eventually paint. I was thinking about getting a body kit for it but I think I would rather put the money into building up a BP+T.

Called around yesterday and found a junkyard by me has a couple of escort GT's.
$250 for the engine & another $50 for the wiring harness (pull the harness myself). Cracked open the piggy bank & I had $218 in change in it, so I will probably have the extra money by next weekend. I will make sure to take the camera when I go to harvest it from the "graveyard". I want to build up the BP for a BP+T setup while my B3 is still chugging along. Hey if the B3 is still running strong come swap time I may have to find a Festy with a blown motor to swap it into

Got my '88-'89 style grille in the mail today (thanks festyfxi). Going to mod in into an open grille with the mesh.

Here is the grille I have been working on.

Here are some detailed shots of the sides where the holes were filled

Now I just need to paint it to match the car & add some gutter guard.

It is something me and my friend fabbed up. We removed the brackets that have the hooks on them for the rear seat and cut the hooks off. I had a stainless steel rod with a 1/2'' i.d.
We threaded one of the holes in the end if the rod.
Then we took a machine screw ( the kind with and allen key head on it and drilled out the allen key whole to accept the nub on the bracket where we cut the hook off.
We tig welded the screw onto the bracket
We threaded a nut onto the screw and screwed it into the rod
The nut acts as a lock nut on the screw.
For the other side of the rod we tig welded the bracket right to the rod.

Screw the bracket all the way into the one side of the rod, bolt up the fixed bracket to the other side. Unscrew the bracket until its tight & the holes line up, bolt it down.

There ya go, an adjustible chasis brace festiva style.

I was thinking there might be a market for these but I dont know.

I think there would be a market. How much would you sell them for?
