these doors are so easy to install, they practically hang themselves. im not even joking if you do it right the first time there shouldn't need to be any adjusment once its on.

Just kind of jiggle them. You may need to gently persuade them with a screwdriver as you jiggle them upwards.Search Master - Honorary Member of Midwest Festiva Inc., Gulf Coast Chapter

Thanks I got them off! I didn't want to force it if I wasn't doing it right.
I got the new door installed. It took forever to get that black glue off from under the trim piece. I still need to work on the other side of the car.
Old door, check out that sweet dent right in the crease. Sorry its so fuzzy
New door installed
I still need to change out the interior door panel.

I gave up on trying to weld the 2 big holes in the rocker panels. There basically wasn't enough good metal to weld on. Someone before me had fixed it with just bondo. I was sanding my little heart out and couldn't hit metal for the life of me on the bottom half of the hole.
In stead of welding whole new rocker panels in I am trying fiberglass and resin. I will see how it holds. I wish I could just get some side skirts and call it a day.

Here is were the project is right now.
I got the whole car sanded and taped off. I just have to sand the bondo and maybe do another layer in some spots.
What is the best way to get all the dust off the car with something I might already have? Trying to go the cheapskate route. I was thinking mineral spirits on a rag but that was leaving kind of a greasy residue.

When it comes to the paint, Id just go ahead and spend the money for some good tack cloth. You definately dont want to use anything thats going to leave any type of residue behind to muck up the primer or paint.
You can get some pretty reasonable on Ebay.

Is that something you could buy at like autozone or a hardware store or do I have to go to an automotive paint specialty shop? I don't have an ebay account yetLast edited by big_ty2003; 09-08-2009, 06:46 PM.

Looks like the project is coming along nicely. Looking good!
I hear ya on the black goo under the side trim pieces. Definitely a PITB.
I'm thinking you can get tack cloth at McParts. Autozone's website says...yes.

I thought about Walmart. But in good conscience, I couldn't/wouldn't send my worst enemy into a Walmart.

If it were me i would wipe it down with dupont 3901 degreaser....it's only 30 bucks for a whole gallon. If you don't want that i would do the poor mans method and wipe it down with automotive lacquer thinner, not paint thinner...18 bucks a gallon. When you get ready to spray tack it off lightly. If you have cleaned it well you should have hardly any residue left over and will be able to save the tack cloth for another job.Last edited by festivaWES; 09-08-2009, 07:07 PM.---------------------------------------------------

I like walmart, I don't see what the big deal with it is personally. Everyone says how they are non union, but is the stuff you buy at the other stores made in union factories. Walmart is just put in the spot light because they are so big.
