Xtiva - My project car

I've made a few posts with some photos of the car but everyone wants to see more pics. So I'm starting my project thread here. I'm calling it Xtiva because the eventual outcome will be to hit the autoX scene with my friend and his Suby(WRX).

Anyway, let me bring everyone up to speed. I purchased a blue '93 L. It runs good, no leaks, A/C, has two different sets of wheels (fronts/backs), a really rusty hatch, couple of dents, cracked windshield, no stereo/speakers, aftermarket(?) cruise, aftermarket(?) rear defrost.

Nice to see! Thanks for the pics. Are you repainting it? What mods are ya planning? Any changes under the hood in store?

Go, go Go!! Off to a great start. I did notice when you got it, it had the standard Festiva dent over the left rear tire. How do they all end up with a dent there??? Anyway. looking forward to progress reports. Pronto!:mrgreen:

Thered56 - Yeah, I want to upgrade the engine and repaint. I haven't decided with what exactly. Of course my hopes would be a b6t swap as that seems to be pretty common and lots of info. available. Right now I'm doing the body and interior then I'll plan out the engine, suspension, etc.

Because people try to pick them up from the rear fender well and they just buckle.

Mine came from not trimming my fenders before driving home with my new wheels. I hit a speed bump and when I got home 2 new dents bummer.

Mine came from a truck driving too close to me and then "bump". I didn't even notice that contact was made! Till i got home. Ergh.

Finally got to lay down some paint this evening. I'm doing the $50 roll on paint job. So far I'm impressed. Did all of the seams and hard to reach spots with a rattle can and then started rolling. Barely any masking and no mess = nice!

I haven't gotten much work done on the festy lately so it was gooood to see some tangible progress done. I'll get to wet sand the first two coats tomorrow evening. It should look pretty good.

I figured the reason they are all dented is from people leaning against them while they pump gas. These fenders are kinda thin and dent easily. With the gas door being right there, I would bet a lot if not most come from that.

Well, I take back what I said. The roll-on paint is not working so well. I think I may have rolled it to thick or didn't thin it down enough.

For the sake of time, I'm going to strip it and rattle can the car. I'll worry about finishing paint once the car is where I want it (mechanically/swaps/goodies). Then I might actually pay someone to do the paint.
