  • So an overdue update. (pics to come soon).
I did the aspire swap with aspire suspension. I put 1995 14" del sol wheels on it. The 45 off set is tight but perfect for the back and front. So no spacers needed.

I am now in the process of swapping the car from an auto bp to a standard bp. I recently found a 1988 323gt transmission with axles, so they will be used in the car. If anyone has any tips or knowledge on doing this, it would be greatly appreciated.

Here is a rough pic of the new wheels and an old pic of my bbqing the valve cover! Thought everyone would get a laugh out of it!!!

Sorry for the dirty car picture. With the aspire suspension it does sit a bit higher but its a not bad with the 185/60/14 tires.

Thanks, they are relatively common in the import world, as well they fit the festiva perfectly

              • Hey everyone,

So it's been about 1.75 years with the BP engine in place, and it still runs well! I need to "tame" the exhaust though. It is too "raspy" and too "loud" I really only want to hear it when I step on it hard, which I don't do very often. When I do hear the exhaust it should sound smooth.
Here is my current setup: I have 2.25" exhaust piping with a highflow magnaflow cat, and the following magnaflow muffler:

So the question is, what is the cheapest way to maintain good flow and get the results that I need? Is the solution a resonator, if so what type will do? I had a friend recommend this: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MOR-94050/ but I have no idea if that will decrease the volume as much as I need since it is a daily driver.

                  • sorry i forgot to e-mail you back...

just go and get a big resonator, as long and as big as you can find... that should quiet it down a ton...

                    • Tim... if you haven't bought a resonator already, take the one chilling in my car at Mike's house. I got a cat-back from a buddy of mine that Mike and I were going to adapt to my Festiva... but I want to go 2.5" instead of 2.25" for the B6T build. So feel free to snag the resonator or pipes off it if you like. There's also a muffler similar to yours chilling there, but it's DTM and pretty loud so I don't know if you'd want that.

Ha! Ok, that or I can help Mike a bit with rebuilding the B6T. When are you planning on coming back to B.C.?

                            • I'll be back in Canada on holidays for July and or August. However, should I decide not to re-contract and do another year out here, I'll be back in BC indefinitely. Got a few more months to make a decision fortunately. Either way, would be great to have you on-board my build however you want to help out! Hopefully I should have the parts list purchased and shipped in the next few months... from there, it's up to you guys! Anyway, enjoy the exhaust... look forward to seeing what you come up with.

                              • Time for an update. Mike and I worked on the car last week and replaced the heater core. Total time to do the heater core: 2.5 hours! Here is a picture of the dash off:

Later on I replaced the passenger side cv axle. I have learned that rebuilding axles is not always the best idea, go figure.
