looking good... you should try getting the vaf adaptor out of a bmw or jag instead of the aftermarket one you have. because they are more free flowing due to the ramps they have inside.
I know its a piece of crap but im still faster...and its 100% legal!!!!!

              Progress Report-Engine Rebuild Commensed

Alright well I have been spending much of my time now hauling the bp down to my sisters house where I have access to a welder, air tools and such and a lot of cool stuff, but still a very tight space to work in, my brother in law has a 82 fiat spider 124 that hes working on;nice looking car. Anyway, started dis-assembly of the BP and things are going smoothly, will figure out exactly how much rebuild that needs to be done but the motor was in very good shape, no build up or sludge, and pretty clean for the mileage. here are some pics of whats going on this far

looks pretty good, didnt do any cleaning to it yet exterior in good shape

will have to do a valve job seems, nothing too bad

nice n golden, tryin still to get the right gap tolerance for reference

these really help...its a real pain when bolts suddenly appear and dissapear not know where they go or come from>? so yeah I use the zip lock baggies mayhbe im just ocd.

              bagggin it up

rear main bearing needs to be replaced this one was buggered

this will be replaced by my new festy one

              fuel injectors looking good

vc cleaned out and painted, will be painted over much more before were done

waxed her a few days ago, really makes a huge difference

                            exhaust

buying peices for my exhaust already got 2.25 pipes for the majority of it just wondering if i should get 2 and 1/4 muffler and cat or if i should get those just 2 so the pipes can slide over? assuming that it should be the same diameter and iwill have to get flanges to bolt on? just wondering what most people go for with exhaust..

                                Boredom Update

So I just figured I would run through all of my plans for this car and sort of detail what I have done, what I'm going to do and what I would like to, for anyone else and my own reference.

                                So far I have:
                                - Drove 6-7 hours to Mass. to get my donor vehicle, for the price of $300.
                                - Disassembled the Escort GT and removed all that I would need for my swap;engine, vaf, wiring harness, computer, mounts etc.
                                - Parted out the egt online;craigslist/ebay/feoa.net/a litle on here and made all the money i spent on the car and gas back with some left over for further parts.
-After stripping the car down, taking out the seats and anything else that might fetch me some loot, sold the shell for 100 bucks which honestly surprisingly I got many offers for it from people who wanted to race it at the track, dirt track, use it as a rally car, and people who just wanted the shell for a DD I couldnt believe how many people actually called me and was kicking myself for selling it for so cheap but I had to get rid of it and I had already made the deal so I wasnt gonna go back on my word, despite the numerous offers for way more
-By this time I had gotten several parts online to repair the car and also help with the swap;kyb gr2s all round, new cv axles, new spec performance clutch auto radiator, new timing belt and tensioners, all new gaskets for top and lower half, new oil filter, new water pump, new ball joints/tie rod ends, new downpipe, new festy o2 sensor, replacement festy t-stat house, new t-stat, aftermarket radiator fan, aftermarket air intake cone with adapter for the maf, new gas tank, new alternator, intermittent wipers(well thats just nice to have..) 35%tint (uhh that was helpful too... )
pioneer speakers in the doors, pioneer 6x9 oval speakers on a custom hatch shelf in the back,( this also was a neccessary upgrade!i need to have music...) kenwood head unit, 88-89 grill with mesh with aux in, hd radio blah blah, im sure theres more im forgetting...
-I installed the escort seats into my festiva, put on the kyb struts on the back without a spring compressor, installed the aftermarket rad fan and auto radiator mounted stock locations, my old fan never worked so I sometimes had a little overheating problem, the new fan works great using the stock wiring (thanks to eurotiva on that). I also modded the open style grille but havent put it on yet, i dont want to keep it flat black i prefer my stock grille glossy black so I either will paint the open glossy or just put it on when I paint my car so its all uniform , will be a deep mettalic green.
When I got the car it had been sitting for quite some time and had many issues but ill detail everything later on just wanted to put little summary of the progress Ive done so far. More to come, oh yeah I almost forgot about the custom exhaust im doing, 2 and 1/4 got the piping and ordered a cat and muffler, ansa muffler, catco cat. also have a 93 crank pulley coming. So ill be working more later in the day and ill put up some more pics when I can. Thanks again for everyones help on this and I know I ask a lot of quiestions that sometimes have obvious answers but all the info and guidance this site has provided will be put to good use.
