WOW! Looks like you really know what you are doing. I think you should do the piston rings. They are what wear out causing Blow-by. Good to hear you are replacing the fuel hoses. I had my fuel injection hose split and sprayed the whole engine compartment with gas! It did not ignite. [There is a God!].

We pulled the engine out of a good running car. With the head off, there was no ridge in the cylinders, you could still see the cross hatch from the hone. We only pulled the head so I can port it a little.

        1.3 Engine Bay Before

Started the night off getting ready to pull the 1.3 out of the Festy. Looks like it is in pretty good condition. Will make for a stash in the lab or perhaps a great addition to the scrap pile.

          1.3 Engine After

Pulled the engine out and spent the whole night pressure washing the bay, Protege engine, and tranny. Also, got most of the additional parts cleaned and ready for paint.

Pics of the cleaned engine bay, motor and tranny coming tomorrow. Wanted to get some nice pics during the day after I do a little detail work. Also, hoping to get some interior re-installed tomorrow.

                Clean Engine Bay

Pressure washed the bay last night and OMG. Man looks like a new car in there. Well not quite new but definitely will not be painting it for now.

                  Pick-A-Part Goodies

Went to the JY today (well Neil went for me) and picked up the rear beam, control arm, and sway bar off an Aspire. All for $150.00. Good deal considering. Here is a pic but has bad lighting. Oh well, will get better pics after they are cleaned up and painted.

                          • Lookin' good! I like the painted rear panels and LOVE your Miata Daisies painted. Maybe I'll do some of both in the spring.

                            • Interior Fabrication To-Do List

Rear Carpeted Sub-Floor: Going to rear mount the battery so I will be fabricating a wood/carpeted sub floor for the back to match the speaker cabinet. Also thinking about putting risers on the subfloor to make room for a larger spare.

Custom Door Panels: Thinking I may go two-tone blue and black vinyl on these. Already have the vinyl and the templates.

Custom Hatch Lid: Will try to stay similar to the original design. Nothing too fancy; just functional and with speaker mounts.
