  • My 2002 Protege 5, KLZE to KJ swap

Figured i'd start a build thread for my P5 since i'm sure along the way i'll be doing upgrades here and there and i'll need a place to post it

when i got the P5, it had i guess vinyl across the top of the windshield, i like a nice dark strip like that but i like to be able to see through it, so tonight i took the vinyl off and added some 5% tint to the top of the windshield

Then a decal i got last week from michael11

    And just another shot

And after reading neanderpaul's friend Justin did a brake swap on his P5 and is virtually a direct bolt on and are a drastic improvement over stock, plus i guess the stock calipers are known for seizing up, i think that'll be the first big upgrade i do to the P5

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

Well it would most likely fit in the engine bay but how compatible it is, there's the real question, and I honestly don't care to find out either, I like kl's and if I want more power I'll turbo it too

Buwahahaha got me a new power plant for the P5 :evil4::evil4:

For those who don't know, it has a 2.3 litre supercharged V6 (called the KJ) and the thing just got a brand new supercharger on it then within a month after, it got into a crash, it also has a new transmission in it with maybe 3,000 kms on it, although its auto and i won't be re-using it

                  Dude, you aint right.

Is that the stock engine cover? Seems wierd that Mazda would just throw "MILLER CYCLE ENGINE" on it... as if the average joe knows what that means.

Yes i was thinking about it, but i don't have enough room to get another car for a KJ festiva swap, maybe later on down the road i'll get another millenia for that purpose though lol

I've heard awful things about the miller cycle engine... then again you can't trust everything you read on the internet either.

Mazda had an intense ad campaign about the Miller Cycle v6 when it was new.

KJs themselves were fairly bullit-proof... the Lysohlm compressors are the weak link.
