The blower is not the problem, it's people neglecting to change the oil MORE than regularly! The engine oil runs through the Lysholm, so dirty oil is the culprit.

You will need more room from front to back, as the KJ has Canted heads, to make room for the blower. Over all I think this is a great Idea! Plenty of power, reliable(hopefully), no need for extra tuning(like turboing the KL)....

My Mazda factory source tells me the compressors were overly sensitive to oil quality, and would fail prematurely. Therefore, compressor = weak link.

^^Yup i have heard many times over about the SC's failing very regularly on the KJ's, in fact, this one came with a bad SC since it was recently changed on this motor, which equals a bonus for me

I figure since i have the spare supercharger, i'll try to rebuild it myself so i have a spare laying around, just in case

I honestly think it'd be a challenge to swap in a different style supercharger because of the way the intake setup is on these engines, but for factory, i think it's a cool engine

Thats the first time I see that engine , never knew it even existed. Never was a fan of Mazdas to be honest. Looks great though. Whats the stock HP numbers out of it?

Whats the tranny bolt patern on that?

            Did it came in MTX?

I beleive the KJ is rated at 230hp at the flywheel, as far as i know, the millenia's were all automatic

I read that the KL tranny will bolt to the KJ but no garentee's about it though, so i'm taking a bit of a chance that they will bolt up, once i get the motor out, the first thing i'll be doing is seeing if the MTX bolts to the KJ

Got the KJ out today and test fitted the 5 speed to it, i had to remove the coolant pipes since they interfered with the 5 speed trans, some minor modification and it'll fit again

Man there sure is a LOT of vacuum lines on this motor though

                  Made some progress today

Look at the fun i get to have with wiring it shouldn't be that bad once i get the KL harness out of the way

And the KJ patiently awaiting its new home

I read somewhere that the KL and KJ exhaust manifolds will interchange, so i tried it and there is 1 single bolt hole that does not line up, its the bottom middle bolt hole, i may still be able to make it work simply so i save myself some exhaust work, but i'll mess around with it more the next time i work on the car

Another difference i spotted was that the mounting holes for the intermediate shaft does not match up, i have to wait til the tranny is bolted to the KJ to find out for sure, but at the moment it looks like only 1 of 2 bolts holes will line up, but thats a minor detail since i can just make an adapter bracket like i had to do with the festiva

^^Which exhaust? the one on the car? it's basically a stock KL Y-pipe to 2-1/2" exhaust, and it had a really nice sound to it with the KL, so i'm hoping for the same kind of sound with the KJ exhaust i'll have a nice whining sound from the front :evil4:

I usually never take the hood off to pull an engine
