Feels like I have been going slow, but I have working on festivas for about 10 years now, so I have plenty of experiencing taking stuff out and replacing it and knowing where everything is.
Debating whether to put the aspire swap, GR2s and lowering springs I have on to this car or the B6T car when I get around to building it.... The dilemma is the scarce availability of parts, otherwise I would get another aspire swap. The nearest self service junkyard is 5 hours away.

Crossmember is down there, howbeit a little cut up to fit the tranny in there. Still have to do a little more trimming to allow more room for possible movement.

started a topic Nonamekid's BP with G-series swap

    Nonamekid's BP with G-series swap

    1990 Festiva L-plus
    200K+ miles
Ran on 3 cylinders, oil soaked engine ebay, damaged front left fender, hatch strapped shut, drivers window duck taped up

Started really working on it last week, drove her to the car wash and sprayed down the engine bay and everything in it to try to remove some of the oil. Everything was so liberally soaked in oil that everything was black or brown. After the engine and tranny were removed, half shafts went back in so I could tow the car to the car wash again to wash the engine bay. There was alot of oil. This also helped me see the damaged frame and strut tower.

Friday before Christmas I picked up a BP and tranny from an escort GT that 80k miles. Engine was not complete, but I had another one that had almost everything. Used the cable G-series I had for my B6T for this swap, probably use the hydro tranny for the B6T unless I can find another cable tranny. Mounts are a pain to make, or at least start. My suggestion for mounts is to start with the rear tranny one, then go to the front tranny mount and then lastly the engine one. Mounted the tranny in initially but did not like how close it was to the steering rack and then the engine touched the firewall, so I moved it forward, maybe a little too much but I think it will work just will have to get a slim fan.

Everything is out of the car right now while I finish the wiring. Almost done with that, then on to putting it back in and making sure it all works. Will end up pulling the motor out once I ensure everything works to weld the damage frame and clean up the install, I want to do somewhat of a wire tuck on this thing so it doesn't look like I hacked it in.

Will upload more pics as I progress, hope to be done by the end of the month. Hard to work out in the shop when it is 5 degrees, so I don't work on the car till I can be out there for a few hours and then I fire up the wood burner.

Anyway, here are some pretty pathetic pics

    Dirty engine bay

    Much cleaner

Engine is now more to the drivers side and further forward.
Working...
