So I grabbed my blown USDM AWD trans to put on a KL, the diff lock motor definitely interferes with the exhaust manifold and there was a minor clearance issue around the axle location




So I took off the USDM trans, brought out the grinder and did some clearance work on the engine.... Then grabbed a GTX trans and got the trans tight to the engine

Much better fit without the diff lock motor



And it's very tempting to buy the adapter plate after the holidays and make this happen



Vice grips were only there to make sure the trans wasn't gunna fall off lol

How much does all that weight? Thats a whole lotta engine & transmission. I like it though! Looks like it should work, if you can sort out a starter solution.

Hole in the top of the bell housing for starter location, it'd be very simple with how the adapter plate is setup

The plate comes with a piece that bolts to it for the KL starter to mount to... The miata trans needs a clearance hole in it for the starter just how the AWD trans would.... So literally just clock the starter mounting point around to match the top of the bell housing and done

And sorry, no idea on weight, I don't have a scale nor do I care enough to wanna get a scale lol

Yesterday on my way to work, I hit some black ice and basically drifted around a bend but half off the opposite side of the road and before I could get the car under control and back on the road again, I hit some reflector signs

OUCH! Doesn't look too bad. Glad it wasn't worse. Even AWD cant save you on black ice :/
