This Paint looks great! Are you thinking on painting the dash as well?

Thanks! I'm planning on doing parts of the dash. Like speaker grills. Center vents/ radio surround possibly the gauge cluster surround and center lx consul.
This should help tie it all together.
I have extra of these parts so if I don't like it no big deal.

Needing to do the front end on this car before the aspire swap, any recommendations for lower control arms inner and outer tierods ? I'm tired of putting cheap lower control arms once a year sometime twice , I drive a lot. I was thinking moog but have no experience with them, I do have moog sway bar end bushings and they out lasted 2 sets of control arms so far and still look great.
Will drilling my new lower control arms for grease fitting and greasing them make them last longer vs buying more expensive ones?
Thanks in advance!

Buy the Moog's. Done!!! Keep an eye on eBay. I got my last set of Moog lca's for $36 shipped. May have been cheaper but it has been a while. Outer Tie rods are a gamble on ebay since several manufacturers use the same number as Moog. Otherwise your local McParts store can get them.Last edited by Gomez; 08-08-2014, 10:40 PM.-Bryant

I prefer moog lca's and tie rod ends.
They seem to last longer and hold up better than the cheap ones.Last edited by Team Lightning; 08-08-2014, 10:38 PM.Jerry

OK so is did some work today on the car new control arms and bushings. Painted the sway bar gray.
I went to put my Rio swap together and hit a snag.
One on the calipers I got on a trade from Rick seams to be different than one I had even seen. The one small bolt is to small to go Threw the slide.
Hears how short it is
The top ones is the one with too long of a slide.
Is this possibly from a escort? I think it would work with a longer bolt.
Any ideas.

OK so I figured out the slides it's a different style used by a reman company. I'm using the factory style slides .
Now my next question is about timing. I noticed this car was down on power so I went to check ignition timing a day noticed the disty was all the way clock wise. I put the crank at top dead center with the yellow pully mark. And the cam looked like this
looked lined up. So I put it back to gather (air box in)
And started it .... same thing , it would only run all the way advanced and with the timing light the white mark was about an 1/6th from the pointer. So I thought well may be the cover is warped and off a little . I pulled the lower cover and lined up the notch and cam, put it all back together and same thing.
I can get it to run good if I pull the 2 bolts in the disty and get a little more advance . So what's going on? .
Am I doing it right. The b3 pully is solid right. Reason I'm asking is my b6d is damped and has slipped over the years and will come no where near the pointer . You kinda just have to guess with my b6d on ignition timing.
Kinda hard to see here but that's the yellow notch with the white right behind it. Sorry I didn't get any of the notch.Last edited by william; 09-07-2014, 06:09 PM.

Cam bolt that holds gear on. Why does it look raised a bit to the left? Gear cog turn on cam shaft?
If, if using a clock as reference, 11:58.
Looks bulged.. If it's not keyed right, you'll start wrong and end wrong with degreeing it.
Pop that gear off and douvke check the key. Follow that out and that's like 3 teeth worth of difference.

I've seen that happen twice. It's exactly as jason said - the cam pin is bent and also it has wallowed out the gear, the same as being off a tooth.
You'll need a new pulley. Depending on how bad the pin is bent in the head you may be able to 'persuade' it back straight enough.~Nate
