I missed the part were he said it was carb'd, I'll go get my dunce hat and head to the corner.

It may be possible to swap the control modules between the carb'd festiva distributor and the B6D distributor to get something that works. These late 80s/early 90s iginition systems really aren't that complicated. From what I can tell the carb'd festiva and the B6D use something similar to Ford's duraspark II were the electronics replaced the coil firing system (points) and still used a vacuum canister. I'm not sure if they have weights under the pickup, someone mentioned that the festiva does and I have a spare B6D distributor that I'm going to careful take apart to investigate this some more. This type of system shouldn't be that hard to set up as sort of a stand alone as the only thing you need to do is ground the coil.

The BP and the 90-93 B3 used something more like TFI were the ECU is handling RPM and vacuum advance by dwelling the coil with a separate module to keep all the electrical noise out of the ECU.

My motor is here. It was super filthy when I got it but I've been cleaning it up littly by little. I'm heading out to pick up a 5 speed today. After that I'm going to start working on mounts and a distributor. The junkyard neglected to mention that it had been robbed for parts. It's missing a crank pulley, water pump pulley, timing belt cover, the coolant tube for the heater core return and the timing cover is damaged. I guess it'll cost the same as the rest of the motors I was looking at in the end.

It is not required to hold up the handle to lock doors on my 89L auto, but it is necessary on my 88XL.

My old '87 Conquest and my '92 Miata both require you to hold the handle up. I had to read the owners manual for the Conquest when I bought it to figure out how to lock the doors. There is some interesting and helpful info in the owners manual, who'd have ever thought that...

my carbed cars I had to hold up on the handle or when you shut the door the lock pops back up. 90 up no problem just shut it.

You don't have to hold up the handle to lock a Festiva, at least not on Canadian ones.

This is the best thing I've read all day.

I ran centrifugal advance only on my '64 VW with dual Dellorto carbs. You do give up a little bit of part throttle response and mpg but it's not a huge difference. You will want to verify exactly how much advance it has though. You might be able to "adjust" how much advance it has by bending the limit stops if it's anything like the distributors I've been inside.

I'm wondering if the mechanical only b6d dizzy will do the job.
