  • Cool beans!

Hmmm, I could use a larger v-groove for Skippy, he has the same "problem" if I dial up the MSD but I need more carb and intake before I can start pushing the limits.

    • The Capri pulley is bigger, but most of them are big shaft pulleys. I don't know if I've seen any of the big pulleys in the small shaft diameter.
A cheap trick is to use a Miata crank pulley (you'd be better off with a nice balancer anyway) and use the miata belt size. It's a fatter belt, so it'll ride higher in the groove on the alternator and water pump.
This is getting kind of off topic. Sorry Trey.

      • Awesome sauce! now I just need to take my alternator apart and clean it so it doesn't look like a turd with a beautiful pulley attached/ty1

        • I tried to mount my water pump inlet today and I found it was hitting the header. The header was designed for an MX-3 which had an inlet that shot straight out from the water pump. I could order one of these if my plan doesn't work but they're a little bit spendy and I would need a bypass tube as well. Instead what I did was cut the mounting tab off that was hitting the header and used some heat to persuade the pipe over about an inch. I also got my aspire thermostat housing tapped for the temp sensor. The last one I did I cracked in the vice. I didn't realize they were that fragile.

          • Oh. I forgot to add that my battery, terminals and strap came in today. Fits like a glove.

                        • Here's part of something else I'm working on for the car. I got the wideband because I needed to plug a hole in the header and I figured it would make carb tuning a little bit easier. I'm hoping that I can mount it on the steering column for now until I get my auxiliary power distribution panel finished in the glove box. Then I'll be mounting 3 gauges in the radio slot.

Also on the way I have 4 vacuum gauges to make a carb flow tuning tool. It should be pretty neat when completed.

                            • it's nothing special. just 4 -30hg to 0 psi 1/8 npt gauges hooked up to 4x 1/8 barbed nipples lol. I might make a rack to hold them all together and hang from the hood latch or I might not.

Here's the gauges I went with.

All of the sync tools I found were $50 or higher and were basically the same deal.

                              • I'm going to be placing an order soon for one of these. I already have the miata backing plate attached to my motor so it will bolt right up. I don't feel super comfortable leaving the timing exposed.
