  • So at this minute OverKILL is down! Carlos and i went to adjust the tune and something went wrong. AEM was not readying the correctly. So last night i bought new plugs but couldnt find any feeler gauges to set my gaps. Got a new feeler gauge set and i hope to have the car back up and going tonight. We might have to start back at the binning however. All new tunning so its going to be a few days i bet. I hope i can get it straight before i mess anything up tho.

              • Turns out the AEM Wide-band that cam on OverKill is bad! It does not read the true afr. It just kinda shows whatever it wants to. I would say the car was ran on race gas and overheated the sensor. Ill put my other wide-band on tonight and get ready to finalize the tune this weekend. The car is running again tho. I will upload my latest video in a bit. In the video you can hear the car make a different sound. To me its like lifter tapping or valve float or something. IDK what it is. It happens when in boost hard. If i were to stay at 15 psi it would never happen but thats not gonna happen...

                This noise was here on the last turbo and tune and still here now on the new turbo and basic tune i have for now. I really want to know what the sound is and how to correct it. At this time i dont know if its a lean condition or not as my WB is not working.

                • Pre-ignition? Sounds a bit like marbles?

                    • Race gas burns cooler than pump gas, not hotter. If it was leaded race gas it might have contaminated the sensor. The description of your noise sounds like detonation (pre ignition, like what Arty suggested.) If you hear that noise, let off IMMEDIATELY. Detonation will turn your engine into a pile of scrap metal in a matter of seconds at the power levels you're talking about.

                        Any idea on how i can try to get rid of the upper rpm detonation? I would like to keep my boost levels at least at 20 if i can get it to work.

                        • I guess once my afr is under control i shouldnt get so much detonation! I hope to have it solved this weekend.

                          • Take a bore scope and inspect the tops of your pistons. If it's starting to look like the surface of the moon, that's pre-ignition (detonation).

                            There is no positive outcome with it present (shattered pistons/rings, burnt/cracked valves, that aforementioned pitting, bent rods)
