Im hoping that i can get some nice video this weekend of the car in action. Might even be able to do a small review of the car and my thoughts on all of it.

      • My aspire beam in on! She is all painted and looking decent. I did booger up the paint on install tho. Was much heavier and harder to do by myself. Its on and looking good tho. Not that many people will be on the ground looking at it anyway. I know its all clean tho.

I also painted my new drums just to give it some color. The paint was baked at 200° for 1 hour. I hope it holds up!

Tonight i will bleed the brakes and set toe and camber finally. Also on the list for tonight is to swap the front suspension with lucifer. The adjustable nuts on the coilovers are frozen on. Im not sure if crap got in the threads or what but they are really stuck on there. Ill switch to fronts on lucifer and set the ride height finally.

Good news is that tomorrow i get to run the exact same autocross track that i ran a few weeks ago! So if i stay up long enough to get the car set i can really compare the aspire beam and proper set up front to my last numbers from the same track. I will set my tire psi better (lower in the front) and see what she does. Maybe this time ill have some decent video to show.

                • SO autox was fun but i broke down! My upper strut bolt pulled out of the body! When i slotted the holes i did it all wrong! I just opened them up in a drunken state! They were fine for my daily driving but once i got to beating on it on the track POP. I was able to catch it in time and shut it down. I dont think i caused to much damage. I will know for sure tonight when i get the car. I let a friend use my trailer and he parked it on the wrong side of the road and it got towed. SO now i gotta deal with that and then go get my car...O well he will pay the bill.

I was running way to low of tire pressure. My car is still about .5" to high in the front.

I will fix the car and try to spend more time setting it up. Im getting much better at setting it up now. I think next time i will be able to get it much closer to Charlies numbers. I made several mistakes when doing the struts. I will correct the issues and be better then everr.

                  • I bought slicks finally! I know i need to practice with normal tires first tho. I also need to get the car set to the Charlie value (the Charlie value is now a thing). Overkill even when turned down has a lot of power down low. I know autocross doesnt need all that power but at times it does. This last track had a very fast front section to it and i could have used a bit more power and grip in that section. I will set the car and do late night test with my street tires so i can compare what it doing. Once she is set so that im happy i will swap the slicks on and start to test her a bit.

The slicks are coming off of cliffs car. They are nearly brand new. 19141828_10211335666261099_1699988703_n.jpg

I have more then enough time to set and test the car between now and the next race!

                    • Slicks are cool when they are the right temp but finicky
I never rAn enough to make them worth the effort
Ie when they where the right temp they where sticky bit too hot greasy too cold slippery

                      • Yeah im gonna have to get used to them thats for sure. But i think if i can get them to work it will help my car a bunch. Mostly it will save my street tires. The federal 595 is cehap but not cheap enough to buy a couple times a year. I would rather save my street tires.

My setup was not helping my tire wear tho. With how bad i was pushing and how low of air pressure i tried i chewed up my front tires bad. i took at least 50% off in one day!

                            • I have the new coilovers ready to go on the car but ran into a problem. The 13" rim is hitting the strut body when i add camber. If i run 0 camber im fine. I have wheel spacers but i would like to not run them. I slotted the bottom holes straight up and the top holes straight inward. I would guess that its all in my rims back spacing. I will have to get longer studs now! My studs are not long enough to run the spacers.

                              • I have that problem with my Honda hx wheels. They're 14" with a +45 offset. According to Charlie I would need more like +20 to run a good 3.5° so that's basically a 1" spacer on each side....not too fond of the idea.
