I had a '76 Rabbit (used) and an '82 Colt (new). The aluminum engine on the Rabbit was a problem. The Colt had a Mitsubishi engine which needed rings at 100k km, a common problem reported in Lemon Aid. The strut tower on the Colt rusted out. I've had the '89 Festiva 22 yrs now and it's the better car, IMHO.
