What have you done to your Festiva today!?

Im sure I might find it as I put the other bolts back in.

Today I stripped down the head and the intake for hot tanking. I got the turbo oil tee back on the engine mount and another random bracket that will attach the motor to the transmission. I also got the ac idler pully on the block as well as the alternator.

Alignment day. Surprised to find out the previous owner reinstalled both top mounts backwards. Had to rotate both of them, plus I also needed eccentric bolts to bring the camber into spec. Rides great now. Some of the most powerful Mustangs in Ontario go next door to be super customized and go on the dyno. Hard to concentrate with all that power being unleashed. The owner came out to check out my Festiva, because he once owned one too!

Finally got some money to buy needed parts for Squig, Shadow, & Blue!

For squig: Got a set of struts all around, wheel seal baring's, & rotors.

For Shadow: Radiator fan sensor switch.

For Blue: A tune up kit. I put all the new stuff on Blue last night and switched out the air meter from the parts car (Silver Streak) to Blue & fixed the plug on it also. Blue runs good now with no stalling.

Just finished a complete re-do of the AC system on Trixie (my 89 automatic...the AC compressor clutch went out on her a couple weeks ago)
New compressor clutch, expansion valve, accumulator dryer, new manifold seals and all o-rings, denatured alcohol flush and recharge with PAG100 dye oil and 134a.
It's working great.. see no leaks so far.

The only drier I could find with the fittings at 180 degrees just came today, and the fittings are a hair too big for these lines.

#!@$ me, I would buy an oddball a/c system that you can't find the one part that needs to be replaced when the system is opened.

Can you bring it somewhere and have them put new fittings on it.

I remember reading older escorts had same set up for ac. Maybe they still have the part?

I had the same problem with one I ordered last year (I gave it away).

Here is the one I Used (Factory Air on my 89 automatic and 90 5 Speeds). I ordered one and only paid $10.09 including shipping from Amazon. Wasn't sure it was the right one but it is the perfect fit.
I ordered two more and now the cheapest I can get the same ones for is $13.24 each shipped. So I ordered two more to put on the shelf.

Not correct, unless you can bend the lines to hook up to fittings at 90 degrees.

I think I found the proper one though when I miss typed the part number. But super damned expensive.

The one I need is the exact one I posted. The 323 one is close, but the Festy one doesn't have the mount.


Maybe this is also a bad time to ask, will it damage the compressor if I don't have the ports capped off while I have it mounted to the engine but no lines connected to it? I have been driving around like this for a bit now. I figured whatever dirt from the road would go through and get filtered by the drier, but would rain water damage it?

According to my research, you should never attempt to flush the compressor. Since it was left open for a while, there is no doubt that dirt and moisture has gotten inside.
So I don't think you will be able to use that compressor again without having it rebuilt.
If anyone has had success with cleaning up the inside of a compressor, I would sure like to hear about their experience.
If I were you, I would get a rebuilt compressor, new expansion valve, and accumulator dryer. While you have the evaporator box out to replace the expansion valve
you can clean it up real good. I had dreaded removing the box but just discovered that it is really pretty simple to do.
