If you need the room in the boot, you could just take out the rear seat and save 35 pounds or so.

That's a nice Smurf blue and I'd think twice or thrice before painting it white. Maybe just add some white trim or logos or something?

Great lookin' Festy, even if the steering wheel is on the wrong side. You know you can get the bushings from Mazda, & NAPA , if you have NAPA in Aussiland. Great find, there are a lot of great members in Australia. Welcome aboard!!

Its got some scratches in it which would need repainting to make it respectable, but other than that the paint is in really good condition

In the US you can pull the passenger side door lock, get the number off the cylinder, and have one made at a locksmith. GREAT SCORE!

I don't know. Haven't heard of the key code being in the manual but that doesn't mean it isn't. Call a locksmith and ask if they can cut a key with either the number you found or from the lock cylinder number.

Locksmith says that the if they cut one from a door lock it may not fit the ignition because the igniton has more pins or wafers?

Might just be worth getting a new set of locks, then no old owners will have a key to fit it getting a key cut from the ignition lock is going to cost $50

I would bet the key cut to fit the door will work the ignition. But your idea of a complete lock set from a donor yard car will certainly work.

Best way to remove the ignition lock? Drop the column and vice grip the pins as i cant see a way to remove just the barrel?

Had a play with the gear linkage bushes today, i dont think it would be overly hard to make my own bushes for it, the hardest being the pin that looks like its pressed in as that has alot of play, might have to cut it out and put a bolt in its place.

Feel free to point me in the right direction, you guys have more experience with these cars that i do.

I'm on the Central Coast, yeah wreckers is an option but they are rip offs around here, might use find-a-part and see who is cheapest.

Havent played on it for afew days, been busy with work which is good because i'm self employed so i know all about money issues.

Woodsy...are you talking the Festy and not an Aspire when asking about the ignition cylinder? If so...remove the plastic and you will see two , what look like screw heads , without slots in them. Use a hacksaw blade or roto zip or anything you can think of , to cut a slot in them and then use a screw driver to turn them out. Once done it is all unplugging from there. Pretty easy....Brian did it on a parts car of mine in about 15 minutes.

Central coast.. im on the qld border.. tweed heads.. and wreckers are a rip here.. im pretty sure you could replace your cylinder with another brand/model one if the wires match up ?
