MPG will be less with the Aspire 5 speed. I put a Festiva 5 speed in one of my Aspires and gained on average at least 5 MPG on the highway.I have gotten close to 50 MPG on more than one occasion with all highway driving. That was running 70 MPH or more at times.

However if you have the trans on a bench it is easy.
Grab the shift shaft, rotate it as far as it will go clockwise, and pull out on it hard. If it clicks into place and holds it's a 5 speed. If it doesn't it's a 4 speed or it's broken somehow.
Or ya know, just try to shift it into 5th with the shifter. lolAny difference that makes no difference is no difference.
