  • Are the Carby seats different because of where the rear seat belt makes the mount on the EFI cars?
I could have sworn we put Carby LX cloth seats into Lanes 91, but now you have me second guessing haha

    • crashed my festiva

I'm not up to snuff on exact differences but I know we had to weld a nut for each seat in my carby car swap for the rear inside bolt. The other seats were nasty and I already had efi seats with aspire cushions.

Edit > yeah, don't carby cars mount on the hump? That's why they don't have a mount in the floor.

I don't think I'm going to make this AutoX, but I hope you have fun!!
hat's the same approach I use a lot of times but with a little twist while everything is still scalding hot I wipe a crayon when I do it on someone elses stuff I ask for a yellow crayon like yellow crayon is magic, anyway the wax wicks in just like solder when your sweating pipe the heat and the wax for lubrication almost always works. One more twist on the same concept if it is broke off flush I wall hold a flat washer in place and weld through the center then weld a nut to the flat washer.:]

              • I have the seat rails does so no modification needed there! If you guys have a seat I'd love to buy it! I will be looking for an aspire seat(s). Is this the only seat that only requires the festiva rails?

                • Oh if you have the rails then all you need is an aspire cushion and the entire seat back. It bolts on to the festy bottom. Remove the handle to adjust back position and then remove the plastic and then the bolt. That was easy ;p you could also check out zx2 seats. Ben mentioned them to me a few weeks ago and I think they fit our seats.

                    • I did the same thing with early 90s Mazda Protege seats. Pretty easy to do. Just use the bottom Festiva frame and rails and siptie everything that used to have Hog Rings. I shaved down the reclining handles a little to make them fit well because I did not have stock ones.

                          • Haha no it was from a guy off facebook marketplace who had it up for parts. I imagine these seats are easier to find than aspires, old proteges, or escort gts. thanks for telling me

                            • Update
My car has been back on the road and seems as good as ever. I got to autocross it for the first time and it was awesome! The passenger zx2 seat was an easy install! I noticed damage to the driver's side seat hinge so I didn't take it out, planning on getting another seat bracket for the swap. That's okay I am happy with my seat and I am so happy to have my festiva on the road.

I made a camera mount that goes where the dome light is. It actually works pretty well now. It's made from a 15$ drone mount for anti vibration and surprisingly works pretty well compared to when I had a mount screwed directly into the ceiling. Maybe I'll show you guys sometime, but I wanna make it lower because right now it sits a little high up and isn't the best view.

After 4 sets of lug nuts (now I have 5 sets of new lug nuts) I finally got a set that fits!

So basically my car is back on the road and doing well! It makes me so happy every time I drive my festiva, I love it so much. I'm sure you guys can relate, the festiva is just a fun car to drive. wouldnt trade it for any other car!

                              • Hey just wanted to ask you wonderful people if it's normal for your clutch pedal to be loose. This either happened today or I just noticed it. I was driving and I heard some noise come from near my clutch pedal when I shifted and then I noticed it was loose. When I first got the car there was a broken spring behind it and since it didnt seem to matter, I didnt worry about it and it eventually fell out.

I saw a nut that seemed like it could be tightened to fix this but no matter how much I turn it doesnt change anything.
Heres a vid and a picture of the broken spring.
