new plan; remove, inspect, adjust, and re-attach the wiring harness under the hood and also check all grounds. college is consuming my life along with work, so the festy isnt getting much attention anymore cuz idk whats wrong with it.

Will it run if you keep it @ 1/2 throttle?

I wished I could help. I pulled my entire harness trying to find why mine wouldn't start. Found a crossed wire in the cab after I redid my inside wires but the car ran after I changed them somehow and then just stopped. I still work on my car three years after it was swapped mostly because it wasnt done right the first time. Slowly but surely I will have replaced everything and do it right. You may need to take a few steps back and try looking into anything that could be causing your issue. Check your grounds. Use what works, it sounds like you have a faulty wire. I'm not sure how you wired it but if it's smoking at the main fuse you have a wire connection wrong or it may even be just a faulty connector. If you have questions about anything on the car post pics with questions. I can compare notes.

car idled great for about ten minutes today with VAF rigged up to hold door open. engine got to operating temp and idle was smooth, everything looked great.

i shut the car off to let it cool off and start to work on it, and now i can't get it to fire again. i think a big issue is with my main fuseable link, it smokes SOMETIMES. gonna check my grounds and see if anything is goin wrong.

anybody have input on my VAF situation?

new injectors are installed.. now, the car will start and idle at 11.8 on the wideband
but when i give it any throttle, it dies out.

so i had my dad hold the door open on the VAF and when that was done, the throttle could be pushed and the car would run nicely. (previously i have adujusted the spring tension in vaf two clicks to the right making the spring tighter?)

does this sound like a bad VAF now?

I appreciate the help! Some background info:
bought the 92 capri xr2 with 106xxx miles when i first got the car, the stock turbo seals were blown so lots of oil was in the intake, but it did run. Next the motor was removed and i stripped everything off of it to clean/ inspect everything. Internals looked fine so i basically just replaced all the gaskets that could be replaced. New water pump was installed along with new timing belt and tensioner. put a different turbo on the car too but thats about all the tempering we have done to it. (motor wise)

Can you give us any background info on your engine? Like is it from a junkyard, or a friend's car or previously working car? Has it been tempered with? Some info could help. Your situation is a lot familiar to me... I bought my BP from a junkyard, thinking they just pulled it from the car sold it to me... But it wouldn't run properly; I replaced almost everything, going in the same order as you did...I eventually backtracked, and tried the theory that maybe the JY played with it, and I was right. Turns out they messed up the cam timing deliberatly, because since they give a warranty on the engine on the condition that you fit a new timing belt prior to dropping the engine in, you have to adjust the cam timing. So since you're doing that, might as well put a new t-belt in; at least that's their theory. I spent a lost of cash before finding the problem because I thrusted somebody else. So when I say " get back to basics" I mean that you should start from square one and double-check everything yourself and go from there; that way you'll be absolutely sure of what's working and what is not. Just trying to help you from my own bad luck haha!!!

    New FPR installed
RESULTS- same problems, still won't start

during removal i noticed both fuel lines (in-going and return) had lots of pressure in them

which now makes me think that injectors are definitely the issue. Picking up my friend's either 460 or 550cc injectors soon (not sure which he wants to give up yet) and gonna see how they fit up and if they solve my issue

I've done that, my fuel pump flows great but i think my diaphram is stuck inside my fpr so its just draining to the return and not pressurizing the fuel rail so i ordered a new fpr.
