don't touch the capped air bleed screw unless it's absolutly nessisary, and then be VERY cautious and note how many turns IN it takes to stop, then clean it out and reset it to that position.
a vaccum gauge is your best friend here along with a handheld tach (or the one in the cluster if it has one). if all is well, you should be able to bring the engine to a steady 300rpm idle (i was able to get one of mine down to under 250 just for giggles).

I just trying to set the timing on the car and they wouldn't even hold at idle. I think when my buddy rebuild a carburetor some of those screws and adjustment how to whack. Now I have no idea what to do the car runs worse help help help
ok first verify your cam timing, then set the dizzy at center adjustment within the slots. open the choke and set the idle screw 4 full turns in. look for any loose hoses or open vac ports (fix those issues if present). this SHOULD get you running once you set the choke and crank it (there needs to be fuel in the bowl of course)

I will definitely try this tomorrow when I get home from work. Thank you everybody who's helping I'm so frustrated right now I don't know which way to turn. At least this gives me a direction to start from and I can go from there. I will keep you guys posted after I work on the car tomorrow thank you guys
I replaced the catalytic converter today. And started running a little better then I got went home 2 try to set the timing right that's when all went downhill
The cat was bad I replaced it. When I got home I wanted to re time my car to make it run better. But when I tried to do that the car would not stay at idle after I took off the 2 vacuum lines that go to the distributor. Now it worse. I need to time the car then set the carb right.
you need to block the hose with the red dash.... it won't idle because you're running it too lean and there's not enough air flow through the venturis to draw fuel because of that large vaccum leak. actually, any disconnected hose that has some vaccum to it MUST be blocked to set the timing and idle speed.

After 25 years my vacuum hoses have dried up and become brittle, so plan on buying some hose. I've found several ruptured diaphragms. Some of them cannot be easily replaced. A vacuum pump is a valuable tool to work on this system and to look for the bad parts. My vacuum advance was leaking and totally non-functional (ruptured). The vacuum system is not well documented, and the shop manual is full of errors just to make more interesting. The emissions sticker is not much help either being so cryptic. The color codes help ... green is EGR ... blue is pulse air ... manifold vauum is black or white hash ... red is carb ... orange is throttle kicker. The hose color if any is left should match the system involved. But then white-H can be either vac source or vent.
To set up a carb, you'll need a good tach, and be sure to check timing first with the vacuum lines off and plugged. I've always liked to lean drop a carb using propane, if you know that drill (propane torch).
I like how Festiva fixed all the problems with the vacuum system ... just look at the VECI diagram on an EFI car.

I got the timing down perfect also there was a valve that was not opening and now the vacuum lines are pretty good but I'm having a little hesitation when I put the pedal down. It doesn't want to die but it doesn't respond very quickly then after a few seconds it will go fine I'll take a video in a bit and put a YouTube link. If anyone could help with this last problem it would be great
