  • New day. New question. Does this Fuel Pump safety switch replace the fuel pump relay on a carb car with an electric pump?

    Comment

    • I have ordered a Revolution fuel pump safety switch for my twin carbs.
Has anyone ever installed a dome light dimmer?
      Revolution is expensive!

      • Curious as to why you would want to install a dome light dimmer...but after reading the Revolution description of the device...I understand.
Just like in modern cars...the lights stay on and gradually dim when you turn off the ignition and they also go off by themselves
if you leave the light on accidentally by not closing the door fully or leaving the manual light on...thus saving your battery.

Before you know it there will be an add-on device to install hand/eyes free driving for our Festivas.

        • A supplement question is there a power lead inside of the car that let you know the headlights are on that is not part of the dimmer? there are addon gauges and radios that do not want to be wired with the dimmer but should come on when the headlights are on I'm looking for a wire that does this.

Makes it romantic when shaggin' in the back seat. Set some candles on and dash, tune the radio, and you're set!

The running lights come on and turn off before the headlights, you could use the illumination wire found behind the dash or instrument cluster. You trying to imitate the tach cluster buzzer warning?

                  • The radio light is wired not to dim.
That means red/green wire for power and black to ground.
As long as you give it a direct ground it will not dim.

All the instrument cluster gauges are connected to the red/white wire which grounds through the dimmer.

I like dimming, so that is what I connected my cigar lighter light to.

                      • I have an interesting question today. When changing window glass run rubbers, does the window glass in the doors need to be removed? Or, can you just lower the window completely, pull out and replace the rubber? Has anyone successfuly done it this way before?

I pulled my windows out to change mine. It seemed easier to get the bottom out that way.

                            • I have one. Are there any conditions under which this car won't run!
Had to go after a ratchet head to replace a valve cover. The oil was leaking, I didn't bother tightening the other bolts back down much. I pushed the air hose back on crooked, and accidentally bumped a plug wire clear out of its socket. Still it ran to the store so I could get the tool, then home to fix it! Turned out one of the grommets was in UNDER the valve cover, instead of out on top, that's why oil was leaking all over everything under the hood and it needed fixed. Still it was running! You have to love a car that will not deny you a trip to the hardware/parts store, no matter what is wrong with it!!

Yes. Just disconnect the wire from the ignition coil to the distributor.

Or, add a cup of sugar to the gas tank.
