Difficult to turn over, slow to fire etc? The old classic line: "my car won't start" really doesn't tell anyone much.

If you have put new wires on it make sure all of them are seated good. I know mine were hard to heat seated properly anD caused some intermittent misses till I re did them

Try disconnecting your engine coolant tempature sensor and see if it makes any difference. My started to go and caused ALL kinds of weird issues. It will throw a code when disconnected, but will clear up as soon as you reconnect it.

...Although thinking about it, it will be hard to diagnose as it will go to default values in the computer that will probably make it hard to start as well. It may make a difference though, at least enough to pinpoint the problem. At any rate its a cheap part worth checking.

Gauge sender won't matter, and coolant temp sensor for the ECU shouldn't matter either until the car warms up.

                      Vane Air Flow sensor.

Located in the air tube right next to air filter. Its the metal box thing. Has a vane flapper type thing inside. Try cleaning it and make sure the vane moves freely.

If its going bad the car might not know if its a "cold start" though...?

I think it has to do with contraction and expansion. Were mine failed was where the plastic plug part of the sensor goes into the metal body of the sensor. It starts to separate and get a bad connection as it heats up / cools down as well as vibration. Like I said, it is pretty easy to disconnect and see if it makes any difference.

                              I'll check it after work.
