His first driver was my 6th festiva. He still has it. He got the CRX a few months ago. He is 19.
not to be an butt, but he should have stuck with the festy... and for driving FWD for at least 2 years, he should have known to transfer weight to the rear for better balance instead of striping it out.
The crx is a much better platform for performance than a festiva and for drag racing fwd you want no weight in the rear at all. Autocross and road racing is a different story but in drag racing any weight over the rear wheels in a fwd car is just hurting you.

i hate to disagree on the handling point there, but the only reason the civic has an advantage is the aftermarket support to fix all of it's shortcommings. when i raced SCCA, i was only 2 sec behind a civic hatch with a veteran driver and 30 more horses. really, our cars handle very well from the factory, just add better wheels/tires and some spring rate all around.

        Rx-7's??
        Mini's new or old?

Besides those you mean. Oh and the part about demolishing shouldn't be said as most of the cars awesome handling and general cornering ability is DRIVER ability.

the festiva uses an i-beam the crx uses independent suspension, the festiva uses drums in the rear the crx uses discs, I could go on all night.

brakes and suspention components have nothing to do with how the car handles, BUT they do tend to push the handling charecteristics to one side or the other of nutral. theres not much of an advantage to having an independant rear, infact, it tends to make a car understeer MORE than the same car with a solid beam.

From my own experience , BRAKES Have A LOT to do with how a car handles when you need to brake at high speed on a racetrack, or through nice twisy corners ---

you can get crx's stock with rear discs and if you arnt happy with them they can be upgraded to almost any other hondas rear discs including integra type r's.

that's right, i did, call me crazy... but think about the statement a bit and you'll see what i'm getting at.

Sp33dY, brakes don't have ANYTHING to do with handling, granted they have alot to do with slowing you down and how the driver can control the vehical speed. But the suspention and tire setup and combo have EVERYTHING to do with how well the brakes can do thier job (drivers sensation of "handling").

thats the most ignorant statement I have read so far in the new year but sense it is a new year I am not going to argue over something with you like this because quite frankley it doesn't bother or affect me with what you think.

But the point is you don't have to do anything more than an aspire brake swap.
