  • Runs and drives now!!!

Got the idle adjusted to where it should be, and drove it around the yard some. Seems to be running good feels good to finally get to drive it!! Not much left before it hits the road.. just have to install the aspire tie rod ends, fix the starting problem, work on the brakes a little more, and thats about it!

    • Trick looking car! Glad i did all of the work!

I'm telling you the whole starting issue is the park neutral switch on the trans....someone is bound to have one lying around.

          • Nice Fred! Glad to hear you can drive the car now! Did you fix the balance of the motor too? Did you finally figure out why it was tilted to one side?

Not yet, pretty sure it's the rear trans mount, this ones busted and in need of replacement..

                  • Auto and manual passenger side engine mounts ARE different.

That is why my engine was slanted so much, you can clearly see the difference in this pics:

                    Manual:

                    Auto:

I thought I had the right mount, since that was the mount that was in with all the L+ parts.. someone must have put the wrong mount on that car somewhere along the way..

                          • Thats strange, I never noticed the difference in the P/S mounts before between the auto and manual. My b6 car was originally an auto. ( I think the auto tranny is in your car now ) I used the original auto mount on the b6 motor with the five speed swap and it seems to fit perfectly. No lean at all. I went out and compared an auto and manual and it seems like the P/S mount shouldnt matter as far as the tilt goes. They are just different. Maybe you just have to use both the motor mount and the matching block bracket for it to be right. Maybe you just mixed an auto bracket with a manual mount.

Yep the trans from your B6 car is in my green car now. It looked like to me if I switched P/S mounts it would raise that side to where it should be. Right now the pass side sits too low. I'll get it straightened out somehow, the engine in the car came from a auto car (that white L+ I have) so I think the block brackets would be correct. I should name this car "Muttstiva" since it has parts from so many different cars on it..

That would confirm my theory. You have the auto block bracket with the manual motor mount.
