    ^^ X2

That's how I've always done it. Spray a small amount of paint into a a carb cleaner can cap and use a small piece of sponge, small paint brush, a Q-tip....heck, I've even used a cigarette butt.

That does work, doing it that way, but I personally prefer it not sanded or painted. The red looks soooo good as it is! I would just hate to mess up, thats all.

For my Toyota engine I picked up a spare VC (Late model 1ZZ corolla in a junkyard? whodathunkit). Started buffing it (2 weeks of every spare moment I had with a piece of scotchbrite) and used my buddy's polisher. It's magnesium so it's really tough to get a good shine on it but when I get time to finish it it will be amazing.
In total I have about 40 hours into it.
No text or patterns on it though since it's meant to sit under the plastic engine cover.

And I'm getting a billet oil cap made up by a local shop when it's done.

Also, +1 on brush on spray paint. Done that a few times

            Painted is more low-maintenance.

Not if you clearcoat it like I did. They make a clear topcoat engine enamel.

Well, it still needs some touching up. Mainly because somebody got in a hurry trying to touch up some black that ended up where it isn't supposed to be, but here it is now. Red, with the high spots done in black. I think when this one goes on the car, the one that comes off I'm going to do with the colors reversed, and see how I like that. Any, opinions please?

Not 100% sold on this idea, yet. But was playing around with this idea.

This is where it would have to go in order to be seen once it's on the car. Thoughts?

Figured out the hard way it is virtually impossible to not end up with visible brush strokes. :banghead:

It seems as though bat's household is dominated by both festivas and poohbears. Lol.
