Ok sounds good. So at this point that was the last one of the first batch I had made, if I had enough people that were for sure to buy one then I can have another batch made... Problem here is as it was this batch took a long time to sell and I don't even make a profit on it and when I order a batch my money is sitting on it. I'm order for me to keep the price @ 50.00 plus shipping I have to have a minimum order of 5 so if there is more of you put there looking to do the weber swap I have the adapters made and they are ready to go, all you need is the weber carb and the adapter kit that includes all the other hardware needed.

I know I need one but I do not know of anyone else needing one.

Well if anyone else wants to chime I'm here.... I know that there has been other threads on people making an adapter plate, but so far I think I'm the only one who actually made a few and get them out to people who needed them... I am more then willing to continue this but I am broke right now and can't afford to sit on the 250 bucks right now.

I know this has been discussed and I apologize for my lack of searching, but what do you get for mileage with the webber and what engine are you running. Did you notice better drivability or more HP/TQ gain? I have a carb'd Festy, it runs good, but I'm interested in easy options and I know how to work on Webber carbs.

When I first did my weber swap it was on my 88 lx and I wanted to do it because I was car pooling to work 1 hour drive to work and 1 hour drive home so I wanted more power and good mpg, the weber made the car way more tunable and I was hauling me and 3 other adults in my festy with the stock engine and the weber swap doing 75-80 on the highway and was averaging 36-38 mpg I used a short band gauge at the time to tune it and the back of the car was getting covered in black crap so I now know I was way rich, when I put in my wide band I was right it was way rich... But right after installing my wide band I started my super b3 build so if my carb had been tuned correctly I think I would have been up to 40mpg at least

At this point with my stage 3 dickmeyer head and cam and .40 over with hypertechtic pistons I have mostly got the carb tuned in but Def more difficult with the heavy cam, and I just checked my mpg and it was Like 32 but that's all city driving and..... Kinda hard not to floor it it's just so damn fun....

                      • mines the Australian kit from ebay and my car is night and day different,it's a stock b3 with 130,000 miles on it had 109,000 when I got it.i drive 500to700 miles a week for work and average 38and up with 4speed tranny going to install 5speed once I get new bearrings installed but i'd say with the weber got at least 10hp from the carb alone

With that much driving per week, you can save a buncha money with some simple additions:
                          1. 5-speed tranny, as you intend
                          2. taller tires, for taller overall gearing
                          3. simple aero mods, like covering the bumper openings, the grill on the pass. side, and something to keep air from going under the car (I used a garage door lower seal thing). This will also have the added benefit of the interior being quieter. My Festy is quieter inside than my Aspire. I also put foam rubber above the headliner and in the body cavities behind the rear seat, to eliminate booming due to vibration in an air-filled cavity. Total cost for such mods might be like $20-30.

I've used Webers in the past and always found them to be a noticeable improvement in both HP and MPG. Check your tail pipe and plugs, and play around with smaller main jets, esp. in the primary, for even better mileage. Leaner mains will also give you better performance at higher altitudes (over 5000 feet), since you will not be running so rich. Changing mains is easy and quick.

Read the reviews on this book too: http://www.amazon.com/Carburetor-Per...er+aird+elston I had the Braden book, which I found referenced in reviews of several other books as being a good one to have, but a little short on theory. This book fills in that gap.

                          • I agree with everything except the leaner mains at high altitude. I live @ almost 7k feet and it seems you want to open up the air bleeds rather then lean out the mains. You can lean out your mains that is correct but to gain top hp and torque you want to be a little richer, so depends on if your going for pure mpg or trying to get mpg and top hp, I run @ wot around 12:1 or so.

Right, I was coming from best mileage since he drives so much. And unless he goes up and down a lot of mountains at altitude, I think he only needs to concentrate on leaning the primary main, for cruising MPG.

                              • Ok I see. But yes the weber carb adds hp and will add mpg on a completely stock b3
