According to his times & trap speed, my calculator says just over 60hp (61-63) at the wheels. using a typical 15% driveline loss, it would be around 72hp (give or take). If you figure only a 10% loss it would still be close to 69hp. I would say that's pretty good for even a fresh, low mileage B3. Are you sure it doesn't already have a B6? LOL

Interesting calculations. It's a B3 with about 160K on the odometer--but it was trailered behind a motor home for part of its life, so I don't know the motor's true mileage. Also, the other mod I did is to increase timing, maybe 5 degrees; and it was running premium gas when Greg did the dragstrip runs. On a recent trip ("Freeze your balljoints off" meet), John and I and a buncha stuff had it up to 90.1 according to his GPS. With a headwind and cold dense air.

Off-topic--thanks to John for his big help in getting my Aspire roadworthy. We finally put on Festiva_tunner's parts car front bumper. Some minor positioning of the hood hinges and fenders is in order to make the gaps line up correctly. BTW John, the headlights both seem aligned!

Back on topic--Blue will now be named Kittystiva, with a Hello Kitty theme. Just to further piss off the drivers of $50K cars who just got punked by a throwaway econobox. (Yeah, sometimes I have a wacky sense of humor. Sue me.)

Pink duct-tape racing stripes John? Hmmmm......

You should put a tag on the front that says "hlloktty" and a tag on the back that says "gdbyktty" so the guys you blow past can read it and weep!!

Went to Target last night to look for HK-themed stuff. Nothing really jumped out at me. Will try Wal-Mart later this week. To really do this right I should have a BP Hello Kitty car with Greg's patented rear-turbo treatment, for maximum freakout effect. I'm SO looking forward to fourth-gear roll-ons!

                    Here's the link

I assume it's accurate, I never applied the old F=MA equation to double check it.
General rule of thumb for a chassis dyno is 15%-20% loss from crank to wheels due to frictional losses/efficiency (depending on trans type, AT is usually close to 20%). I would think even our small Festiva transaxle would be at least a 10% loss. Helical gearing is usually a 5% loss per stage of reduction. I would think the trans and differential are worth at least 5% each.

You may be able to run 17.40's if you remove the snow blade mount and put 12" wheels back on it!

That's what I was thinking. That hitch on the front has got to be heavy. I'll be running it again soon.

You may be able to run 14.40's, with the hitch, after Greg is done with it.

For a 14.4 second 1/4 mile, you will need between 135 - 140 HP. I think a turbo B6 should be able to make that.
