Hey claude I'll send you some spacers to use the stock b3 mount but I'm not sure if they will work with the stock trans. But you'll have them when your ready for the gseries

For future reference to anyone with a donor egt remove the engine and trans together. Its hours faster and so much less work.

I always pull both together no matter what car it is. Saves a lot of time.

Has caught the most Festivas on Fire on this board!!

awesome man thanks, ill give it a try but if it not then definetly for the bigger trans, this is something ive been thinking about but i havent seen anyone do it on a stock trans so i guess it just is completely different considering all the mounts and position of the engine is different with the g-series; But I also was thinking maybe if a put spacers on the crossmember to make it sit farther forward then maybe i could do it?

I always pull both together no matter what car it is. Saves a lot of time.
my shift linkage would not come off the trans to save my life, i could not get the bolt out, but it really wasnt too hard getting the engine out by itself i just had to get all the bolts off, i was forgetting one the whole while thats what took long,,untill my girlfriend spotted it

                  gettting anxious!

im so ready to have this engine in, working a few hours a week just isnt cuttin it but i guess I have no other choice, my brother in law is letting me use his garage but i only have access to it on saturdays for a few hours so progress is slow and the suspense is killin me! in the mean time I am just planning and preparing and making sure I got everything i need so when I start the actual swap it will go quick and painless, ive already got most everything ill need for the swap, im replacing parts and doing a lot of preventative maintenance but i think im gonna do the aspire swap sooner than i had planned so i guess ill start gathering for that as well. my girlfriend thinks I should focus on one thing at a time and just wait till i get th bp done before anything else but i have so many goals in mind for this car its just hard to hold myself back..as far as the bp goes i think im covered with most everything, wiring shouldnt be too hard due to the great wealth of info on here, i got a cat and a muffler with piping all 2.25" so that wil be ready, im using the festy top thermostat house along with so stock rad hose on top and i have a stainless steel flex hose for the bottom that will fit both inlets with adapters and clamps. also got 5/16 brake line comingfor the vaccum booster linne, well nee to get some sound deadening material i hear that the stuff you put in stuffed animales works i saw a write up on it but im not sure how i feel about that, i might have to just go with dynamat or something along those lines. i will also have to figure something out for the battery, either get a smaller one or relocate . got the new o2 sensor already and it fits in the bp downpipe with no modin, screwed in fine and im going to use the stock festy termostat i believe, not sure if a different kind would be neccessary? also ive been on cp and feoa and considering a RX7 VAF but i dont know if thats overkill for a stock bp? guess i still got some thinking to do.

still rebuilding the engine and doing as much preventative maintenance as possible before i start the swap, just checking in and yes things are still progressing, slow as they may be. Last saturday I took the valves and lifters out to inspect and everything looks ok, nonetheless I will be replacing the lifters and working on the valves before the swap so ill keep you guys posted with everything. thanks for looking too

OK so saturday got a chance to work a little more on the project, used a bead blaster which was a blast, no pun intended...
heres some pics of what was done saturday, didnt have much memory so couldnt get everything but pretty much just did brainstorming, blasting and working on the head, which needs a special valve tool that is very hard to come by so a tool was welded up by my brother in law, worked for getting the lifters and springs n valves out the trick will be getting all the refurbished/new parts back in. i will probably buy new lifters and a new oil pump just to be on the safe side. Hers some pics.

                      • The BP HLAs are fully serviceable. If you clean them yourself, you will save some money.
