Well The car has sat for the past three days untouched - I'm to a point where I can work on it again . . . so I thought I would up load some build pictures - They stopped at Day 4 but I'll have to get current state pics uploaded.
    Day 1

    Day 2

    Day 3
Now I had to do a side by side of this one:
    Before and After

And that was no "little tab" it was the whole corner of the oil pan! I embeded aluminum in my contacts even while I was wearing safety glasses!

    Day 4

As I said I'll have to get current pics because I changed the Intake slightly but I wish it would just run - Bah! New axles Clutch and a fresh B8 and Aspire Trans swap and I can't drive it - KofKof I really know your pain now lol

That is a big engine puller.:p It's nice that you took the time to prep the engine bay. Having a B8 Festiva sitting in my driveway and not being able to drive it would drive me out of my mind.

Is it possible you have a failing igniter?
Not completely dead yet, but once warmed up she doesn't work.
This would explain the fact that the timing seems to be OK, but doesn't run past 5 min's and is hard to restart.
Can you make FB71's Go/No Go tester?
Anyone have a B8, or any other distributor that will work with that engine, Known good so he could test?

Also try to get your vaf facing closer to it's original position. It's gotta be something simple. Don't overlook the obvious, is what i'll tell myself when i'm stumped.

              X2

I've had the discussion with a couple of other members about how well the VAF works when turned sideways. It seems (to me anyway) like gravity would have a detrimental effect on the door when mounted vertical since it's designed to operate in a horizontal position(?)

And like Greg stated....when I get stumped, I go back to the basics. I start looking at fuel, air, and spark. If I have all 3 then I start looking at what effects them.

Hope you get this figured out soon. I hate to hear when someone gets so frustrated they talk about selling

Does the idle rise as if you weren't getting enough fuel when it warms up? I ask this because my friends car had problems when the engine warmed up because engine ran rich to warm it up and when it leaned out it would idle horribly. Did you change the fuel pump?

Also where did you get your intake piping?

No the Idle is normal but it will be running good then the rpm will drop below 500 as it chokes itself out
I did not swap the fuel pump - I was unaware of the need to change the pump on the B8-ME swap?

O-Rileys Auto Parts - I've found they have the best selection of "build it your self" intake piping. they have verious degree bends as well as straights they have vacume adaptor pipes or adaptor kits to drill and mount your own like I did.

I don't think you actually need to change the fuel pump. I'm just throwing ideas out there.

Considering that the B3 was opperating with out issues until it dropped all the oil out and I swapped all of the sensors over so I know they were good

                            update:

Ran compression test on the motor
1,2,4 all test at 12.5 bar and 3 tests at 13 bar
I did notice that I'm getting a backfire on one of the intake strokes so I'm thinking I have build up on an intake valve sticking
I've got the valvetrain soaking in seafoam
Does anyone know any other tricks aside from rebuilding the head?

If I rebuild the head I will have the valves reground at the same time unfortunately time constraints will force me to have a shop rebuild if it comes to that
