Got my new air filter installed. This should flow alot better than the stock festiva airbox I had to use while I was waiting for this to show up.

lol, your car held up well for having 2 passengers in it. The stock festiva airbox really held me back. My adapter was in the mail when I got home, so I am ready for a rematch. Also I need plugs and wires as I did not replace those when I did the swap, and I wouldn't be surprised if the original plugs are in it. I am just happy it ran fine driving down there and back, now I can work on the little stuff.Originally posted by Ford Fester View PostDisappointed my b8 lost to your bp

The 2 trannies are the same size but are clocked slightly different, at least that is what I am told. I didn't have to build a special bracket for the midshaft like alot of guys say is necessary. I put washers behind the midshaft to bring it away from the block till it rotated freely and I was good to go. I think it was 2 or 3 washers on the top bolt and and 1 on each bottom bolt.
I have yet to see 2 installs that are the same. Since the mounts aren't all built in the same jig, they are all slightly different.

Huh, I guess no two installs are the same. Each one seems to be a custom job. I assume the cable G series is the same size as the hydraulic G series ?

I did initially, but then found out when that is done that the left axle doesn't have the play it should in it: it was too compressed. I then had to move the tranny away from the frame rail to get some play in the axle.Originally posted by freshtiva View PostDid you have to smash in the left side frame rail for tranny clearance ?

Comming along nicely! Got any pics from a little farther back so I can see how much clearance between the exhaust mani and the radiator support?

Yes, but I did have to shorten it and put a slight twist in it. My frame is slightly tweaked so i think that was the reason I couldn't use the stock mount the way it was. Using the stock festiva mount and spacers doesn't allow the alternator to slide all the way forward because it hits the lower mount bolt. Not alot of room for belt adjustment, but was easier than modifying a escort gt mount. I didn't have the room for one of those because the round part of the mount hit the part where the bolt studs were. I also only used 2 of the three studs. The closest stud to the mount is removed on mine.Originally posted by freshtiva View PostDid you end up using the stock festiva motor mount on the right side ?Last edited by nonamekid; 04-13-2012, 10:08 PM.

Found out my charge light was on due to the alternator being bad. It still charged, but wasn't giving the signal to the light. Replaced it with a festiva alternator.
My turn signals weren't working but the hazards were. Switched out the whole unit on the steering column with another good one I had and now my turn signals work. Also put in some intermediate wipers.
When I drove into town today, the car was shaking so bad at 70mph that the door was rattling and moving about a half inch at the top. Got the tires balanced and the shake is gone.
I think I am ready for the meet tomorrow. Still haven't figured out the high idle problem. It idles about 2500rpm when it is cold. When it is warm it will idle at 2000, drop to 1500, then drop to 1100, and then try to idle at 500 rpm. When it gets down to 500 it will bounce a little and then jump back up to 1100 and keep going back and forth. I tried replacing the throttle body assembly with all the associated electronics but that didn't make a bit of difference.

I've used them in an aspire, but I think the aspire has a little more bay space.Originally posted by nonamekid View PostI was able to use the stock radiator fan. Had to bend it just a little to get the distributor on, but I got it in there. Haven't seen anybody else running the stock fan. Maybe mine is a little further back then yours.

Car is at the exhaust shop. Checked on it after work. You can see light through the new cat, so it should flow nice. I have to leave town for a day and half so I won't get it back till Friday. Then just got to do a good road test and finish the small stuff.
