Got some Festiva stuff done today. Engine bay is cleaned up and I'm starting to remove useless (to me) parts.
I used 66 Autocolor for this: paint, clear and hardener all-in-one. You shake it, pull the red cap off and pop it to release the clear/hardener into the paint and go to town.
Laid down pretty smooth. I'm going to lightly wet sand it and hit it with a couple more tomorrow.
We then worked on greenbullitt's street car. Here is a little street car turbo with a Shiner Bock for size reference. (Texas, y'all)
He went with Strange dual caliper rears. They call for the strong aide of the proportioning valve being the other eay around... So we had to basically re-route his brake system to do it.
I HATE brakes. They apparently hate him and I as well. It's the dumb little stuff:

Sooooo... Ran into an issue. The Kia timing cover and BLOCK appear to have different bosses for the Crank Position Sensor. I was wondering, "why is my Escort motor retarded?" and realized maybe it was me.
It was me.
So greenbullitt and I are going to strip down the Kia motor tomorrow and, well, I'll be building ANOTHER BP.
Stay tuned...1989 Carby L: Stock. Slow.

Just ordered some ARP head studs and an MLS head gasket kit. Hopefully, the valves are still good and we just need exhaust guides. I'll have the head, crank and block to the machine shop in a couple days.1989 Carby L: Stock. Slow.

I'm a huge fan of only doing something once. Hence my irritation at the engine situation. However, I did get more toys for the Festielago today. 2 tight 180* 2.5" mandrel bends (for the downpipe) and the SPEC Stg. 2 BP clutch. Closer...

So today was a productive day. Kia motor has been stripped to nothing:
Like... Nothing.
Fast-tracked the fastener removal... Easiest way to remove keepers: 18mm deep socket, long extension and a big-ass mallet:
The gaskets showed up yesterday, these showed up today:
I'm going to do some light head porting. It'll need valve guides, hopefully the exhaust valves are salvageable. The OEM cross-hatch in the bore is still there, so it'll be gett
ing bearings, a hone and a re-ring. The pistons and crank look good, so those will go back in.
Greenbullitt's cat LOVES the Teal Terror!

The Kia block is the same as a 95+ Miata block, which has a boss for the timing cover since the timing cover accepts the CPS. I'll get photos when they're done I assume, I'm not stripping the finished engine down.1989 Carby L: Stock. Slow.

So your using the internals from the KIA BP for a Mazda BP which has the correct timing cover & boss's?Some people like to read fiction,I prefer to read repair manuals. Weird I know-
