The flange is steel, but with a good welder (whom I have in my Rolodex of "owes me a big favor") it'll weld just fine.

The Ford turbos all used water, I typically block the water off since it's a cheap @$$ turbo (got it free) and it will be getting a lot of airflow. The elbow you see is water; the oil is sideways. I need to clock the center section once fitment is complete.

      • Lotsa work gettin done in your garage. Keep it up man! Do you have a link to that socket kit thing? My wife stepped on my injector harness socket yesterday and broke off half the plastic. It still plugs in but I might replace it if the price isn't too killer.

Well, the sockets come with the injectors as a whole kit. It's a Ford Racing Performance Part kit, so I can't split the connectors off. however, go here: www.mouser.com and find ANY connector you could ever want, and cheap!

          • Today was another prime example of me going off-course. Bought some tools. Last year I was burglarized and was jacked for about $14,000 worth of gear.

            Damn-near brand new torque wrench:

Ingersoll Rand composite and Matco air tools:

However, I did do the "make it count"... And taped off the exhaust ports. Tomorrow I'll post some turbo progress

PS - this is an approved Texas toolbox top drawer arrangement.

            • Did bearings on the LeMons car. When I say I have a couple hook-ups and (now) new Festiva lovers I mean it.

It's sad when the rear brakes on his STREET CAR cost more than most festivas.

              Thanks, GreenBullitt!

                    • Now "V Bands" I understand, best way to seal extremely hot gases. What did that set you back? And just to make conversation why doesn't anyone run the liquid coolant like Ford does on oem?

Ford did it because the 80s cars weren't exactly reliable anyways, and throwing a stupidly hot air pump (turbo) on the side of the engine only made things crazier. Your average motorist has no clue about cool down time or how oil can coke up a center section. Ford water cooled them to try and keep them alive.
