Yes, and it's stupidly easy to duplicate. Once you've seen what all is needed, going OBD2/MAF is too easy to pass up.

Im confused on what you meant that the rio rotor had a 1/2" on the aspire, can you explain and provide specs on the size? because when i was looking online and ordering my new rotors the ones i decided on were "direct fits" for both the aspire and rio. Now im slightly skeptical and hope that im not reviving a lower quality part...

Personal guess is that everything is the same between Rio and Aspire (fit over and on the hub) except for the overall diameter of the rotor disc. This would be good news for Aspire owners(users) if Rio rotors can clear the Aspire calipers but then again the surface area of the pads is not going to achieve anything more. If these fit then at least when Aspire rotors become obsolete we'll all know to merely order Rio jobs.

The Rio rotors are the same as Aspire automatic rotors and bigger than the manual Aspire rotors, IIRC.

Today was an extremely productive day. The sad part is that it wasn't by design.

My apartment complex decided to leave a note on the black car stating that it would be towed if the flat tire wasn't fixed. Turns out we have a new maintenance supervisor and he said people were complaining about how Festy our complex had become. Something about five festivas or some $#!t...

Anyways, tonight turned into a thrash session just in case they decided to make good on the threat...

            Rear beam swap between cars:

EFI fuel tank/complete Kia EFI harness removal:

            Oh... And a BP/E-series removal.

My garage looks VERY "Festy" now!

I'm going to go through the harness soon and clean it up. MANY MANY thanks to Bernie M for the help.

              Doesn't Bernie look... FESTY?!?

As an aside, my newest project (as if I don't have enough) was to buy Rectilinear's leMons car. BP/G series en route.

                  Suppose I should say howdy.

                  Howdy.

I bought Don's white festiva as a daily driver; turns out they're a joy to own.

                    Another convert. Congrats.

Can't wait to see the MAF install done.
Any difference that makes no difference is no difference.

I ran the black car for over 2 years on the 1997 Kia electronics. I've been harping on using the Kia setup for quite a while! It's really easy to do, that's what's surprising.

                      • I wouldn't take the time to do it personally. I don't like electronics, we have no emissions here, and our JYs are crap, but I really don't like the idea of the way the VAF works, so it's nice to see an alternative with a hot wire.

Did you notice any improvements in gas mileage with the MAF?

                        • I got mid-30s fuel economy, and I was never nice to the car. Straight freeway at 75mph got me 39.xx mpg.

                          • That's a lot of Festivas in one apartment complex! I'm surprised they let you work on them in the lot. Some complexes don't allow you...or at least don't like for you to work on your car in the lot.

this is quite impressive! I did a motor swap in my apartment complex while in college. I worked late at night/ early in the morning. They left a tag on my car to remove it after I got it running, so I drove it down to the office to ask why I had to remove my car from the property. Lol
