I like it. It'll certainly work better than the last setup.

A 90* bend like that cuts flow by a significant amount, increasing with increased velocity.

You might be much better off getting a 180* U-bend of mandrel pipe in the same diameter and painting it black to match, or reconfiguring your intake piping to delete those bends.

Is this more better ? Got it at Menards, it has a threaded port into which i used a barbed elbow fitting to connect one of the hoses.

You need a washer to seat the festiva strut in the rio hat.

sweet. i have new festiva struts in the front but im sure you could use the rio top hat on the festiva bottom.

does any one use these? they are strut bearings i saw on rockauto

Cause its a poor mans power steering, also the struts and springs and rubber bushings are all newer, and generally only require compressing the spring enough to cut a coil or two and bolts in. They use a ball bearing top mount vs the solid rubber stock mount, and it makes a huge difference in handling. I can(could before I removed the engine) turn in parking lots at 1-10mph speeds with one finger on the wheel.

I recommend doing the mounts anyway that will work for you. If you can get the 1/4" clearance all around, its a good mount. I dont think any two are the same. The alternator problem was not only caused by my midshaft bracket but also the frame rail clearance.

This is the easiest way I can think of. There is a thread in the N/A engine swaps that show a mechanical one using a door hinge. Im good with what ever gets the job done . Mine measures approx 2 1/2" wide by 5" tall by 10" long. It could be refined into a smaller unit I suppose but where it is mounted is the one place where I have plenty of room.

I dont think theyd be hard to reproduce. The bracket is all youd need if you use your own cyclinder.

Not looking forward to dealing with the XR2 bracket being tilted like yours was, but at least now I can see it coming and it won't hit me in the face halfway through the process! I'm hoping I can come up with some sort of hybrid though, maybe using the Escort bracket instead of the XR2 one, if the bearings are the same size or if I can find a bearing with the right ID/OD to make it work. Because of length it will still need to be modded some, but hopefully at least it would sit flat like its supposed to. We shall see though! Keep up the good work and keep posting pictures, I must say I'm impressed with the ingenuity of your cable-mah-jigger there! I have a feeling I'll end up just having the MC on the firewall in these, but yours is certainly visually striking!
Thanks htchbck, thats a real compliment coming from someone who knows what they are doing. Two BP/G25MRs huh :eeeeeek: I think if Id used thinner material on my midshaft bracket I wouldnt have had to remove so much material to get it to sit flat. Thats 3/8" metal I used, overkill, probably should have used 1/4"

Hey now, Im not that hillbilly.

I think Im getting close to a start up. Just need to get the clutch thing worked out. The car sits really high. My front axles are slanting down like this. /\ What do you think about these cut Civic springs ? The car sits 23 1/2" to the red line on the bumper in the rear. Stock it sits at 20 1/2"". Of course Ive got 14" tire on instead of 12". The cut civic springs have two coils removed and are about 4" short then the stock festiva springs. I know zero about lowing a car. Tell me if I should go another route please.
